Have been rebuilding my quad over the last couple of days and installed the AIOP board with Gaza';s v2.7 r4 firmware and as you can see below, it wobbles like a very wobbly thing :hmm:

Any ideas as to why? It wobbled so bad it flipped at one point and is now suffering a bent motor shaft :banghead:

Looks like you are getting gyro feedback oscillations. You need to reduce your P settings (or whatever the equivelent is in megapirate).
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Hi Biffa try lowering the Rate P its the acro mode setting thats prob causing it also if you alter the Rate P and it does stop the wobbles you can increase the Rate D to dampen things down a bit, megapirate takes a fair bit of tuning to get it just right  ~~

Cheers chaps. There things are much easier to do with a POT and a screw driver :whistling:

Any chance of a screen shot of what ones to change? There';s so much stuff on there :o

Also be prepared for some more questions

I will have a look as I posted a pic of the rate bit before  ~~

Lovely jubbly I';ll have a fiddle and reply back :notworthy:

 :notworthy: Your the man Gaza.

Just lowered them to 10 and immediately went into a hover with minimal wobbles, so a little tuning and it should be good.

Been trying to sort this out for hours now so my head is fried, but as I stated, be prepared for more questions on flight modes, but for now my brain is having a rest.
Steve

Biffa

OK so here is my next question.

I have a DX7 and have a seven channel RX on the quad. In the MP all channels show up and appear to work on the Radio Calibration screen:

But on the Flight Modes screen only the GEAR channel has any input as pictured, the other switches do nothing.

Am I missing something here? Should I not be able to assign all the switches to change flight modes and RTL etc? Sorry if this seems a nooby sort of question but the MP software is hardly intuitive :wack0
Steve

Gaza07

No your not missing anything there is just 1 channel that does all the switching
you have to mix in some 3 way switches to give you all 6 modes, its a pain in the arse but do able,
there is a thread on here about changing the pot on a tx for a 6 position switch this is what the mod is for to give you all 6 modes  ~~

Biffa

Ahhh ok I';ll have to look into doing some mixing then as I don';t fancy hacking into my TX . TBH I';m not sure I';d want all the different flight modes readily available.

I really just want to get it to stabilize, RTL and erm, well I dunno never had so many options :wack0

Cheers for the help once again ~~
Steve

Gaza07

Altitude hold and loiter are good ones to have and as you say rtl you should be able to set it up so its default is stable mode when nothing is switched on, Ive never really seen the point of acro mode on this firmware because if you really want to do aerobatics you would be much better off using a cheap quad with a cheap wii controller,
tuning is normaly done in acro mode first though so its worth having it for a start then change it to something else  ~~

Thanks mate ~~

I';m looking forward to the wind dying down so I can get outside and get into setting it up without worrying about hitting kitchen cupboards or the ceiling :whistling:

I have a dx7 too, and just yesterday received my apm. I also was thinking on how to switch flight modes. So last night i have been googling and found this: http://diydrones.com/m/blogpost?id=705844%3ABlogPost%3A637661
