FPV budget assessment

ok .... I know I haven';t exactly flown much yet, but I need to plan ahead.

The spider flies at altitude well, so well I haven';t flown it below 30,000 ft

So I want to look ahead to fpv and video recording, budget - economy.

Would you guys give me some idea of all that I need to purchase, based on gopro (model depends on whats left of my budget)

I';m looking at ALL the stuff that may be required, gimbal, anti vibe gel, antennae etc. I want to incorporate telemetry, height, distance etc so its a big shopping list. But thats what I need so I can organise a budget.

Yes I know what I can buy is based on what I have available to spend, but bear in mind i';m working my way up into this hobby, so a decent level of video and control is great for me.

Anything I can make myself from CF is great, but I would need some plans  ;)

I';ve had a look at that site, not sure which to go for, which goggles are better, which ant etc. It';s a full packafe for FPV and then to add the gopro

mickyt

Hi smeagol just double check  with firstpersonview as the prices quoted on the site are base prices as i found out when adding it to the basket you need to add aditional bits of kit which i found  bumped the price nearer 500 quid so just double check. The other thing with them is you cant ring to discuss anything its all via email which i find a pain in the arse  i explain things better on the phone than i do via email.
If someone throw's a stone at you throw a flower at them just remember to throw the pot with it.

Cheers Mickyt, I had another look between predator and dominator, seems to be much more in the latter, so which do I need.

Next step is going to be gopro, so thats another hurdle, can I just mount it on foam tape, or do I need some shock absorbing gel etc, or do I NEED a gimbal, or is that for seperate camera control

mickyt

I have the predators and their ok the dominators are modular so you can swap bits out don';t discount the attitudes they are meant to be as good as the dominators but they aren';t modular Vin uses these and he loves them.

As for the gopro what are you mounting it on and is this going  to be your fpv cam as the video feed is delayed so I';d advise against using it for an fpv cam.

I';ll be doing the gopro next, it will mount on the upper side of the bottom plate on my spider. I';ve no confirmed idea on how to mount it yet, will depend on the unit itself and the bits it comes with. Can/should I use it with the ain lipo or add another smaller one.

Initially the gopro will just point forward and slighly down, and will be used solely for video recording while in flight, i';ll get a smaller camera for when I start the FPV. Thats why i';m looking guidance now to see what I need to hide from the missus (save  ;) )

mickyt

If you want good a good quality picture through your fpv cam your going to need at least a 600tvl Craig has a good cam mine is from firstpersonview but its not the wdr that Craig has mine is a 1/3 inch sony super had 2 ccd 600 tvl what i will say though make sure you get the 2.8 lens wider view not by much but it does make a difference ~~

Cheers Micky, see your photo hasn';t improved with age

I';ll get a link from Craig, see where he bought his then - ta.

Looking forward to getting the gopro and seeing how much vibe there is on my spider  :o plan is to attach it with a velcro strap, what about power - do I use main lipo or a seperate one

Thanks for the info Jumpy, always good to see some footage from the product.

Just wish I could get time and weather to get some flying done, looks like I may have to review my spider front end, to see where and how I can mount the two cameras
