Broken props are part of the process  :D It's amazing how antennas can find their way into the props  :D

DJI Phantom on DX18 with GoPro3

We converted a Phantom to run on a DX18, added a go pro 3 Black and went for a fly outside the shop this morning.

This was a ';brown trousers'; flight !!!   All looks well from the go-pro footage but you';ll see a flight, a landing then another flight.   Ha HA....

The second flight was completely un-planned. Phil landed, relieved that nothing had gone wrong and the go-pro had come back home, when suddenly the Phantom shot back into the air, hovered at about 100 feet for a minute then landed itself back on the spot.    After the event it turned out the switch programmed to cut the motors was actually the return home switch which sent the Phantom back into the air apparently un-commanded.

Hey these things fly well

Looks like it was a bit windy to he must have wondered if it was going to disappear when it entered return home mode   :frantic:
How would you compare the feel of the phantom to the APM ?

The Apm feels much more locked in. The Phantom flys fine but you can tell you are giving instructions to a CPU and getting it to do the work. Sometimes it feels out of control, especially in wind but thats because I';m a heli flyer and can';t get used to the phantom entering its own stick movements to hold position.  The Ardu does a similar thing but seems to step back when you input a stick command where the Phantom appears to override some input to stay level.

I';ve only flown the Phantom twice, I can tel you It is very, very good once you';ve balanced the props. The controller included is very reasonable but its also easy (About an hour the first time we did it) to change to your preferred Radio kit by installing your own RX.

I heard a whisper over on RCG that they are planning a version with no tx which should make it better value for money to us that already have decent radio sets and just don';t need the rx/tx as supplied  ~~
