@badger1, When my quad got all muddy, a quick rinse under the hot tap, avoiding the electronics, got the worst of it off, then strip down and clean, quick repair to the VTx, it's all good again ~~

GCS Primary Flight Display Compass with CC3D

Ground Control Station 14.10 shows a compass display, which (kind of) works with the CC3D I';ve just bought.

I say it kind of works because rotating the board on the bench causes the compass display to rotate, but it clearly isn';t telling the truth with regard to the actual heading of the board.

However I can find no reference to a magnetometer in the CC3D online documentation. So how is the compass display working, other than just sensing movement in azimuth? Have I missed something? I.E. Is there some kind of compass calibration routine somewhere, like there is for the NAZA-M in my F550 Hex?

I guess it doesn';t matter if it';s not accurate unless you';re planning to use the ';copter with a GPS system (which I';m not for this build). Any ideas anyone...?

yeah, i notice that.  I guess it';s because the gcs is shared by the revo board, which is gps enabled.

Best answer i can offer i';m afraid!

Hardware? sure, I got hardware!

You';re right, the CC3D doesn';t have a compass.

The FC assumes north where the board was pointing when it boots up.  It then rotates in the GUI according to the accelerometer readings.  At least that is my conclusion after doing a few restarts with the board facing in different directions.

I wonder if it';s the basis for some sort of headless mode yet to be implemented.  :hmm:
