Battery and charger advice

Ok, finally made some money so have almost everything on route now except batteries and charger.

I';m building an X650 clone, with APM2.5+, Tiger 900Kv motors, 33a Hobby King ESCs. Ultimately want to carry a GoPro but want to get some flying in first! Also ordered some 10x4.5 props.

Can you guys advise on a suitable battery and a decent charger to go with it?

Quick bump.  Sorted on the battery spec but still looking for advice on a charger.  Was considering an Imax B6 but read that it had some issues with balancing?  Also looked at a Turnigy Accucel 6 but am a little put off that it doesn';t come with a mains PSU.

Any recommendations appreciated!

Don';t be put off by the fact that it doesn';t come with a power supply. This is a really reliable, well made charger and it comes with a good selection of connectors and leads too. I use one of these and I just found an old laptop mains adapter that did the job.

I have been using one for a number of years. A very good charger for the money. You can also easily convert a PC power supply to use as a 12v source for the charger.

Yeah the accucell 6 is a really good charger. I use it to charge every battery I own. Li-po,Ni-CD,NiMH , lead acid (Pb) the lot.

Like DarrenG posted above, any old laptop mains charger (17v max) will run it no problem. One thing to remember though, you can';t use the accucell to charge at a higher amperage than the adapter you use to power it supplies. For example if you are charging a 5000mah 3S battery but the adapter you use to power the accucell 6 is rated at 3amp max then that is the maximum amperage you can charge your 5000mah battery at, regardless of the fact the accucell can charge batteries at upto 6amps.

Best of luck with your build :).
