STORM32 saving config

Hi guys,

I hope you c help. I have got a puzzling question about the STORM32 board I purchased recently. It's a v1.32 board with I2C IMU. All works great with one significant exception - I cannot save settings to the board. The GUI does not complain when I press the Write + EEPROM option and a new configuration can be loaded to GUI after I choose disconnect and connect options in GUI. But when I switch off the board by disconnecting USB cable, and connect again, I get the default settings on GUI all the time whatever I try. When I choose the Read EEPROM option from GUI, it reports an error. Please help!

P.S.:  I successfully updated the firmware to version 0.96 but it did not change anything. The controller on the board is STM32F103RCT6. I used ST-Link v2 to update the firmware. The USB-TTL adapter method did not work and I figured out why - the XOR logic chip through which the RC0 signal feeds to the controller, is not present on the controller board. I believe that it only affects USB-TTL adapter connection and is not how the config is saved to EEPROM.

I can also confirm that I checked the Read/Write protection is not set on microcontroller. Can anybody share the address where STORM32 parameters are saved on the chip? I'll then check if new parameters are recorded actually when I save them in GUI.

Casting my mind way back (2015) I had/have a Storm32 on a F450 (sitting in my loft with 3 axis gimbal) I think I used Olliw's software to update things. I think his site was www.olliw.eu .
I seem to remember that the Storm32 came in a couple of versions and 1 was easier to connect to than the other. There was a wiki article somewhere detailing how to work out what version you have.

I still have the Olliw software if that might help?
I try :-)

Thank you very much for your reply. Olliw software is exactly what I use but unfortunately it dioes not save the settings for me. What was your experience of using Storm32? Did it work well? Could you save the settings?

I saved settings no problem. The Storm32 board was OK, I did tune it a bit to try and get it to respond a bit slower and with less oscillations. I saved settings no problems at all if I remember correctly. I have a couple of cgf files as backups and they are different so I guess they saved fine.
Must admit I didn't use a ST-Link v2 as I don't have one. So I either used a FTDI or just the usb. I suspect it was USB as I think I had Olliw software on my win10 tablet so I could tweek in field, well I used to fly the F450 when we went to our caravan as they had big field and lots of open space to fly round plus they were OK about me flying there. So my win10 tablet was my 'computer' when we were away. No longer have caravan and haven't flown the F450 for a good few years. In fact haven't really flown anything this year!!! Too much going on with setting up new business etc....
Really must charge some packs up and get out there.

Can't really think why the settings are not saving. I assume you have the ST-Link v2 connected correctly? It couldn't just be reading data and not connected to write could it? Seem to remember the software having a confirmation about writing.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
I try :-)

Thanks, I figured out that the controller board has got a clone micro-controller GD32F103RCT6 as a cheaper replacement of the original STM32F103RC. This can be why it does not work as expected.
