Hello from Spain

Hello.

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.

I';m a photographer currently working in Southern Spain. Originally from Manchester, we';ve been here for 6 years so far with no plans to leave (climate';s addictive)

I';ve been monitoring the rapid evolution of this amazing, (but mind-boggling hobby). I love the whole idea of these brilliant machines and what they can do, and I wish I had a fraction of the knowledge that some of you guys have. Hopefully I';ll learn quickly

This is how I currently get my images:

I absolutely love this adrenaline pumping way of getting to my studio (anywhere between 300 - 12000ft).

The only problem is, that the risk factor is quite high and the lower I fly, the higher the risk. It';s funny how age and having children turns you into a worst-case scenario wus

Anyway, I';ve been flying RC planes on and off since I was a kid and just recently decided to take the plunge and hop onto, what seems to be a huge learning curve that these machines present.

I would like to do this the right way (can';t afford not to), starting with something tiny (Ladybird or Hubsan), to get used to the controls, then progress to a kit in an attempt to learn and hopefully get to understand some of the currently nonsensical language I';m reading on the forum.

At some stage, several machines down the line, I will endeavor to move to a professional rig with the intension of filling the gap currently in my business.

I am astutely aware that I';m going to be asking lots of questions in the very near future, probably I';m going to be a bumbling pain in the a**e, so in return, if I can offer help to anyone interested in Paramotoring or Photography, please do not hesitate.

Hi Dan and welcome to the forum, that';s a cracking picture you posted you must be very brave 
It must be a real buzz as well as very scary up there, the hubsan would be a very good into into multi rotors it would seem to be more stable than most of the other micro copters out there 
please feel free to ask as many questions as you like

You must let me know were you are in Spain - I spend quite a bit of time there myself, in fact only this week I shipped out a Hex to do some aerial filming myself when I';m next there. I know RC flying is very big and there';s a few clubs around the Malaga and Marbella areas but I';ve heard there';s a few local by-laws that prohibit aerial filming from UAV';s?? - you may want to check it out as I believe the Guardia will confiscate your stuff if they catch you.

And by the way, you';re not the guy I see frequently flying up and down the beach near Cabopino are you???

I';m about 25 mins from Cabopino by car, 45 by paramotor , so could very well be me that you';ve seen. Although paramotoring seems to be getting quite popular along this stretch.

Most of the Guardia are great, and are just interested in what you';re doing, providing you';re considerate, not causing a nuisance and not flying recklessly/ dangerously.

Wow! That looks pretty amazing and your photos amazing too! I can understand what you mean about becoming wiser and more cautious with age and children!  LOL. Well, you';ve come to the right place and there';s lots of useful people which are always helpful and more than willing to help! You might want to consider a Twister instead of a Husban as it';s a little bit bigger and more versatile. Good luck!

Hi Stef.

I think you must have been reading my mind, because although the Hubsan gets a great write up, I was thinking how tiny it is and wondering if there was anything someone could recommend that';s a little bigger, but still a starter model and cheap

I';ll look into the Twister. Thanks for the tip

hiya dan and welcome to the forum i have only just got into fpv/ap in the last few months with a quad but would love to have a go the way you are currently getting your shots must be such a buzz  man a day at the office for some people

Welcome to the forum, absolutely envious of your means of transportation and the climate.

Not sure whether I could fly using one of those, feet dangling on the open air ....    I';m not scared of heights but I reckon that would be challenging.

Welcome on-board..  Great bunch of people on here all willing to help and advise.. We all started off somewhere no questions are regarded as stuppid just ask and people will always advise..
