Hi guys,

Thought I';d share some photos of my latest TBS Discovery Ultimate project with you!

With a take off weight of 1.72kg it is extremely light and includes a quick release gimbal system which incorporates all video sending, osd and gimbal controller. It also has TBS style landing gear which is again very light.

I';ve not fully tested the camera and gimbal yet, but initial tests are giving 10+ minutes air time and I';ve got high expectations for the results. Hopefully, this weekend, so I';ll keep you posted.

Hope you enjoy!

Really like that might do that to my TBS.  As a side note how do you manage to keep your antennas perfectly straight.  Mine are kinked to buggery.
Frames: Blackout Mini H V2, TBS Disco, TBS Caipirinha,Tarot Ironman 650, Q450, Tricopter D.W design.
FC's: Naze 32 GPS, Naza M Lite GPS, APM2.5 GPS, KK2.1, KK
FPV: Skyzone FPV Goggles, GoPro Hero 3+ Black, Sony Super HAD 600 TVL

Thanks Gary, Rob. Yeah, I know what you mean about the antennas - mine also get bent and I always straighten them before taking a photo!

Wow, This is an awesome looking piece of kit! The legs look fantastic and the gimbal position is a great idea!  ~~

Oh, thanks guys!  ::) Yeah, this is my fifth disco build and I';ve been improving them each time. This is the first one with landing gear and a quick release three axis gimbal and I was a little concerned that it wouldn';t fly well, but little tweaking to the gains and it flies even better than the previous ones. The tbs definitely likes being bottom heavy - a bit like me!  ;)

I really cant see how I can improve much on this!  I';ll keep you posted with the footage.

Very neat build indeed.
Stef would you put up the build specs, motors etc you used as I really like the TBS frame  so would like to price up another build.
Thanks.

Hi Paul,

This is what I have on my TBS. I';ve kept it light for max air time!  ::) :

  • Standard TBS Discovery
  • TBS 900kv Motors. Tried various but I am happiest with these!
  • TBS Bulletproof ESC. Again tried three different ones but these SimonK ones have better response.
  • Naza V2 with GPS
  • Graupner 8x5 props
  • 3500ma 4s 20c Lipo
  • Landing gear, my own design

Stef, looks great btw, i have the same 2.4 vtx & vrx as you by the looks, but am struggling with it atm.  It';s a lawmate setup, and power';s up, but i can';t seem to get video out.  I';ve no instructions per-se, only some snippets on t';internet, like setting the dipswitch on the vrx.
The problem is, unlike my 5.8 gear that works directly with my goggles, i have to adapt a rca cably to go from vrx to goggles, and i';m jiggered if i can work the pinouts.

Do you have a comprehensive wiring diagram i can copy pretty please?  ::)

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andy,

Sorry it';s taken me so long to get back to this post to check the responses. Did you get it sorted in the end? If not, I';ll try and get something put online for you.

Stef xx

Hi Stef, any info you have would help.  As i say, the air end is pretty straight forward i think, once i found an online manual, but the vrx is a bit of a mystery, in terms what cable to use/ make.  If you could tell me the plug size and type, and also which pins go to where on the monitor, i';m sure i';ll have it working in no time.

Actually, i rather think i';ll use 2.4 to the vrx on a pole, then output to 5.8 for short transmission to goggles.  That way i could stand a decent way from the main 5.8 antenna, so can you tell me what plug/pins to use?

Cheers

Andy.

P.s when are you going to post more flight vids?  I';m in to similar style of photography to yourself i think!
