Have managed to put some parts together.

Matek 405 aio
dys 4 in 1 esc
emax 2205 2300kv motors
rsxsr receiver
Having a bit of trouble working out the receiver wiring, can work out where ground, 5v go but cant get my head round sport, sbus in, sbus out??
Got battery and charger so not too far off now.

Have a look at the Connection Guide on http://www.mateksys.com/?portfolio=f405-aio Scroll down and it shows SBus rx connected to the FC.
Like this:

Hope that helps?
I try :-)

I have not really seen a build with the flight controller on top and connected to esc via xt60. Looks easy for maintenance but you are adding extra weight with all those xt60. It's not a light weight frame so keeping weight down would be good.
Do you have to somehow tell the FC that it is mounted higher than the props?

It might be worth adding some heat shrink to the wires that go to the xt60 where they solder on. As it would be easy for a damp bit of grass or something else to short out the wires!!

Keep posting picys as it's always good to see how other people do things.
I try :-)

Sbus - how the radio reciever tells the flight controller what the radio is saying it should do. This is mandatory and one way (from the radio reciever to the flight controller), it requires a dedicated uart and the sbus wire connects to the Rx pad of that uart. (Ignoring inversion formthe moment)

S-port - Frsky telemetry protocol, not needed if you are not trying to get telemetry back to your radio (so utterly not needed on an fpv racer as displaying on your fpv feed is the best approach

Thanks for your replies,
I was looking on matek site for the connection of 5 wires? perhaps I don't need them all? on the rxsr
there is 5 wires

ground
+ 5v
s port
s bus/cppm out
s bus in ?

don't know if the FC needs to know how high it is sitting? the lower compartment is for the battery and the one bellow has the distribution board, in my case the 4 in 1
Yes I was having second thought about the xt60
All help greatly appreciated as it is my first build, really enjoying it when I get the time.
Mite eventually get in the air for few seconds

I am not an SBus expert but it looks to me like you just need to connect

ground
+ 5v
s bus/cppm out (i.e. out: output signal from the rx)

As per the images above on the SBus diagram.
The SmartPort (S.Port)is for telemetry (data back to your transmitter).
Looking at the diagram if you want SmartPort then use SoftSerial_TX1 on S5. Then configure in Betaflight. It might be useful for flight battery voltage warnings?
I try :-)

As above, if you want to fly the quad you need ground, 5v and sbus (out)

johnnyguru

Thanks,
So what is s bus in?  :-/

No idea mate but Cheredanine might well know the answer.
I try :-)

S bus is a serial connection. Frsky sell lots of different sensors for telemetry that on other aircraft you may use. So you could have vario, battery voltage, airspeed, temperature etc all in a daisy chain of sbus sensors.

Since we use a flight controller we only need that one sensor.

EDIT!!! Sorry I’m talking about smartport! Sbus in? No idea...

Thanks everyone, I will just cut the s bus In wire and hope it doesn’t blow up,🤡
Let you know how I get on.

johnnyguru

Where is the best place to mount the receiver?
