Another Minimicro osd dumb question

Help needed, I got this working now but having setting up problems. I,m trying to get into the on screen menu but I have my throttle set on a switch rather than stick arming. If I want to get into the screen menu do I have to do it with the motors spinning up ? In cleanflight I set throttle onto a three position switch. The reason for this is I am having trouble calibrating the voltage display in the Mwosd gui, those number adjustments will not adjust that easily.

Cheredanine

No mate, I use switch arming, it is fine. Never had any problem
I am guessing the only thing you need to be careful is is where your min check is, your stick needs to be able to get below it I believe. (Recent BF releases have had min check taken very low

trebor

Is there anything in cleanflight I need to set to enable on flight screen menu adjustments ?

No mate, (you should be disarmed btw, forgot to mention) - try it on the bench, should be fine, if it is not just check the min check setting in cf is not too low

Edit, just a thought, because to access the menu you need to have sticks at the extremes, you need to be sure your sticks can reach them, for example, to enter the menu yaw full right pitch full.
That means you need to send 2000 on both yaw and pitch by default, if your Tx/Rx stops short it won';t work

trebor

Just when I was getting somewhere Ive now got this, me and electric computer things don`t mix. I had a picture honest  :o

Cheredanine

Lol what you done??? That ain';t the sticks

trebor

Somthing has gone, just wondering if the Vtx has got too hot. I';ll try again when it';s cooled down. I can';t see anything to change the settings now.

Cheredanine

Cool, let us know how it goes.
What vtx are you using?

trebor

It';s a Hawkeye 200 mv, the fuzzy picture is a static pattern, there is no movement. It';s like a splat painting ( Jackson pollark ) type.

Cheredanine

Got to be the vtx, the minim or the wire between the two

(Those pads are pretty natty on the minim)

Hawkeyes doesn';t have LEDs does it?
(Take a look at dragonfly vtx, just got one, not flown with it yet but nice and works around the house)

Are you running grounds between vtx and minim and camera and minim?

Assume you have changed the minim from ntsc to pal?

trebor

Took me a while to figure out after I re loaded the software that the pal had changed to ntsc.  The Hawkeye  has a Led which is lit, and it has grounds.
It works now, could it get so hot it stops working ? Strange thing the timer numbers change size, is that normal ?  :-/

Lol yeah got a watch that after reflashing with MWOSD, always need to turn back to PAL
Suspect you need to upload font again

trebor

Its different you never know if your going to get large or small numbers, adds to the excitement  :wack0

This is the wiring which you helped me with before

Cheredanine

I remember now

Lol yeah just a bit concerned since it clearly isn';t using a font consistently it may display no characters at some point which may make life interesting

When you upload a font it does it character by character, suspect you have only partially uploaded a font

trebor

I will give it another go, I seem to have lost my compass and the voltage still needs sorting.

To use the flight control voltage do you have to set it in the gui or clean flight or both ?

In mwgui by default it is set to use its own voltage sensor pads, these need to be physically connected to battery voltage and then calibrated

The same section has something like "use FC voltage" which by default is turned off

Since I already have voltage sensors on the FC which are already calibrated I switch on "use FC voltage"

Assuming you have voltage set up and calibrated in cf (on the config page)

Reminds me of a mistake I made a few weeks back. Did a spot of tuning and I irritates me when I forget to save the settings before disconnecting power so I';m really in the habit of doing it every time I land. So throttle idle, full left rudder, full right aileron, full back stick... Except I was still flying. Well, not for much longer. [emoji33][emoji24]

I';m now having trouble with the tv capture card, rusty red screen on the laptop. Vtx is working well !! I will have to get a cheap screen instead of doing this through my goggles.
