I hammered a nail through an old puffed up lithium polymer battery to destroy it in a dramatic fashion for the camera;

Lol that';s one way to mess up yer chopping board.  The bang doesn';t get recorded very well does it.  Sounds more like a puffft lol.  Wow alot of flames on the first.  Also looks similar to my lipo disposal test.  Performed in controlled environment. I.e. White coat, goggles eh hem.  No squirrels or pigeons were harmed by the fumes...

Hi Chris,

Your mom';s going to be in for one hell of a shock when she';s sees her chopping board! lol.

On a serious note, if you want to dispose of old batteries, just drop them in a bucket of petrol. Sorry, I mean salt water!  ;D it works a treat and slow discharges them with no smoke or flames! Not quite as spectacular as yours though! 10/10

Absolutely right, I had a couple of puff balls to dispose of before I left the UK and used that method. Gave them a few days in the salt water and then measured 0v at terminals  then gave them a severe poke with a sharp instrument. No reaction so I figured they were safe to dump.
