Can anyone recommend the information i need to be looking out for.

Grab yourself an app called AirSpace Avoid I think its avaialable on iPhone and Android. It shows you an aviation map and also grabs any NOTAMS in the area. You can also go to http://www.skydemonlight.com/ (http://www.skydemonlight.com/)

Skydemon Light is a great spot for notams, airspace restrictions, and any other notices that can have an influence on safe operation.  You can plat a course and it will provide all current and up coming notices.

I occasionally refer to skydemonlight and also there is a google maps plugin that shows you a 3 dimensional overlay of UK classes of airspace and restrictions (you may wish to remember that if you are going down the BNUC flight test route...just sayin';)

I get a daily email from notaminfo.com I check it daily, even if I';m not flying. Schedule the email and you';ll soon get into the swing.
