Title: Simple FlySky I6 Firmware Flash
Post by: VooDoo on Saturday,January 12, 2019, 18:13:28
Hi,

I’ve got my act together and acquired the right cables to flash my FlySky I6.  The cable is presenting a port (unlike the last cable I bought) and it connects straight in to the back of the TX no problem.  I now need to choose which firmware to apply.  There appears to be loads out there and I’m not sure which one to go for.  I only really need a couple of extra channels (Only one really to activate a buzzer) so a 10 channel flash will do, although if the 14 channel flash is better or more reliable then I’d happily apply that.  I’ve not modified the TX at all (no switch upgrades or swap outs).

I value reliability and ease of flashing over complexity and extra functions.  Also, I’d prefer to use a flash that someone has used for a long time with no issues.

What do people recommend?

Thanks

VC

I use the 1.7.5 10th Jan 2018 version. I have not added any switches. I have been using the modded fw for a couple of years now and never any problems.
This page has the connection details for ftdi method which was the way I did it. https://github.com/benb0jangles/FlySky-i6-Mod- (https://github.com/benb0jangles/FlySky-i6-Mod-)
I used this page for the 1.7.5 version https://github.com/qba667/FlySkyI6/releases (https://github.com/qba667/FlySkyI6/releases) I think I used the 1.7.5 zip file.

I think it's a simple installer that basically does everything for you. That said it's towards a year since I last flashed my tx.
I did use the no sw14 version at one point and I seem to remember using a 'flasher' for win7 64bit. I think it may have been in the release zip file.

Remember there is a slight chance you may lose your stored models and have to rebind. I didn't but it's just something to remember if you want to make notes on mixes etc.
Once it's up and running you might need to set the alarms correctly otherwise you might have alarms going off that you were not aware of.

Good Luck.

Cool, thanks.  I’ll give it a go and post how I got on.
