Title: My first quad
Post by: MattyC on Saturday,March 28, 2015, 12:04:05
Hi everyone,

My 250 quad finally arrived from China. I will try and do a bit of a build log, I might even try and do a video but I will have to see about that.

This should be all the parts just waiting for some standoffs and I might change the CC3D for a naze32 but I am still a bit unsure of which is the best and as a novice flyer I don';t know if I will be able to tel.

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell which direction the motors will turn because I have the emax motors that are designed to turn opposition directions?

Cheers

Matt

If you watch the series of 3 vids Bruce has done it will answer any queries you are likely to have.

Hi, look forward to seeing your progress through the build, how are you wiring your motors, directly to the ESC';s or using banana plugs?

When I wired mine to my ESC';s I wired two in an ABC formation and two in a CBA formation, this ensured that two would spin CW and the other two CCW.
By ABC and CBA I mean,

Motor wire 1 to ESC pad A
Motor wire 2 to ESC pad B
Motor wire 3 to ESC pad C

Motor wire 1 to ESC pad C
Motor wire 2 to ESC pad B
Motor wire 3 to ESC pad A

If you were looking at changing the FC I would recommend the Flip32, it has all the functionality or the Nazi Naze for a lower price.

All the arms are done (twice because I got the motors the wrong way round because of the directionality of the emax motors).

First fit up of the quad and the monster power distribution board used because I wanted to get everything in place, I have a small one on order. Also got Standoffs on order.

I have just got the radio gear mounted and the flight control, all held on with cable ties for now until the new pdb turned up and I remount everything. Let';s see if I can setup the flight controller next. Does anyone have any tips on how to setup the CC3D?

Use the latest version of open flight and the wizard has a setup for zmr 250 I used the bottom one cheap Chinese clone and it flies lovely

Nice 250 quad there dude!

Those parts are identical to mine, I bet you bought it from the Aliexpress ';Would you dare'; kit I posted a while back :)

looking good - yeah like Paul said - just use the wizard routine and a 250 sized quad as the default setting and go from there.

Just a small update, I changed from the included pdb to a smaller one that fits under the fc. I have now had a few successful flights with only a few broken props. Why is all the nice weather when I am stuck in an office!
