  • ched999uk: RaceDayQuads have some cheap but good batts out now. Josh B tested and stats say very good especially at price. HobbyRC have 1300mAh 4S just under £20. Not had luck with Turnigy lipos either!!

  • Reman: Just realised that I hadn't gone through my stored Li-Po's for about a month. I try to visually check them every Saturday, And prod the plugs with a multimeter about once a month. Todays seen 12 more bulging packs go out to the incinerator..... All but one was a bloody Turnigy! Part of me wan't to burn the rest now and just get a load more Tattu packs, But I've spent good money on these packs and wan't to at least get a little more use out of them. :(

  • Bad Raven: Pre MR's I used to buy a lot from J.Perkins. Their website showed all items and stock or due date, go to dealer and buy with confidence. Then they went all "lifestyle" and all the site had were pictures or people. I wasn't after people. I never bought again. Yes, you'd think they'd learn...........
    July 15, 2018, 17:51:40
  • ched999uk: Reman sounds like amazon search. I find it ok unitil you want to search by price then amazon falls apart.... You would think both companies would get it right...
    July 15, 2018, 16:54:55
  • Reman: It's strange. The original setup they had about 5 or 6 years back wasn't too bad (Except for them occasionally getting accounts hacked), But they changed it to the last one that was clunky and slow, Now they've replaced that with a flashier one that's also clunky and slow ?!?!?! Most companies learn from what they do wrong. I don't buy from HK half as much as I used to, Mainly because it takes forever to trawl through 100 pages of totally unrelated stuff while looking for something you were thinking about getting when you saw it there the previous week !!!

  • hoverfly: I don't think there is a search button on H/King. They updated the site and forgot to  relabel the search button with  Random bo##ocks..

  • Bad Raven: Agree - The Search is abysmal!!
    July 15, 2018, 08:40:52
  • Reman: I see HobbyKing's revamped their site again...... Shame they haven't made the search function work any better, Or worked out why the whole site goes slower than a pensioner in a Nissan Micra. :)

  • Reman: How thick is Google? You buy something online, Then for the next week you get targeted adds for the item you've just got?!?! That's the one item you're NOT going to be buying again at that point so it's wasted effort of there part. :)

There is normally an offer where you add a certain battery strap and HobbyRC take it's cost off the bill.

Did not have long this morning, and as likely to be alone (which I was) I took planes and heli's.

500 Class Heli halfway through battery after several high speed circuits lost tail drive and high speed unstoppable pirouettes ensued, problem was it was 70 foot up and drifting towards boundary (and a road).

Landing would also be out of sight down a slope on of course brick hard ground.

Oh Well. Throttle back and attempt to autorotate, but stability lost about 30 foot up.

Oddly the canopy survived with a couple of impact blisters, the tail boom also, but the frame is trashed and bent main shaft, poss also feathering shaft. I have spare frame, etc so have all mechanical parts to repair but I'd just got it tuned to perfection...SIGH...................

What caused it was that the tail blade holder had lost grip to the tail drive shaft, the grub screw having departed, probably due heat loosening.

What is worse than the loss of the Heli till repaired/rebuilt is the battery, which now has one crushed cell at the lead connector end. It was a new one, £50.   :banghead:  HAD to be the newest one....................   :cry

I am sure if you had queried it they would have sorted it out. Out of all the online shops I have used HobbyRC have given me the best customer service.

Great vid, the quarry is really something.  A  n/d filter might have helped with the glare. The jello seemed to be occurring when you were going through your propwash ,no big deal.. There is a chalk quarry s/west of Milton Keynes  that i'm going to have a go at when wind, time,  allow.

Although  i mostly take stills for my aerial photography   when i get to the site i usually do a slow rotate at different heights and camera angles  just in case i get "disturbed" This gives me some material to take stills from,  after this i  go for the arty farty framed shots.I keep thinking i should make the effort and sit down with a decent vid editor and learn to put together a decent video, although looking at the quality of the Flyup ones i have a lot of catching up to do..

Went to my normal field and they have moved the goal posts to the 10 yard box so the grass can be cut. That made a great square to fly round. It improved my flying no end. It was so great to have an object to aim for and fly round.
I didn't want my batteries to end  ::)

Super economical.. ~~

She is a very light build, lot of folk build the chaser with full GPS and FPV set up and then end up with 5000mah lipo, mine just has the flysky RX, tiny little Eagle tree guardian, also light motor the x2212 1400 sunnysky, so i can get away with a smaller lipo, absolutely loving this wing, still got a little setting up to do, she has a tendency to climb, not a bad thing but going to reset level on guardian, though its great fun when you realise she has got a bit of height to drop the nose and dive back down

Poor quality pics as they are screen shots to keep file size down.

Pics and videos to come.

Not doing too badly with the #flyeveryday thing.
Went out with Sirius yesterday evening to find the cows were lurking in the tall grass on both sides of the field. Took the usuall walkies route then decided to pop up to Boars Hill instead for a cheeky couple of packs. It's overgrown there and that nettle patch that we know and love has turned into a FOREST! But still, workable.

The flying was nice, just kept it to the 'keep it smooth' practice which is going fairly well. THEN, I did the thing that everyone says you shouldnt. "One last pack".  :wack0

About a minute in, I heard the battery alarm going off, glanced down at the OSD to find I was at about 12/13v and a fair way out too. Managed to bring it in, creeping back like a naughty puppy at 11v and change. Must have gotten my used packs mixed up.  :slap:

Still.... fun.

I'm assuming from the title that failsafe kicked in and enabled GPS RTH? But it sounds like a motor was intermittently cutting out on it. What was actually happening?
I need a pay rise........ Though I'd settle for a reduction in the amount of hours I need to work to get the same money.

I'm testing the feature out at the moment, so that was rescue triggered on a switch, not failsafe. No motor was cutting out, that was it maintaining altitude. It's on default settings and I think the gains are tooo high as it is just acting like a switch on the throttle. But that is what testing and tweaking is about.  ::)

It's a bit of a pain to adjust the gains and try again, need to get a few 100 m out before I can trigger it and check the response.

Got out to another new spot tonight. Spent 1 hour walking trying to find a way to get to it, eventually got there but only had time for 2 packs each. It was very dense undergrowth so spotting duties were to the max.

New spot just opened up along my road! They routinely cut the forest back creating a small area that’s flyable for a few months before the trees grow again.
