  • ched999uk: RaceDayQuads have some cheap but good batts out now. Josh B tested and stats say very good especially at price. HobbyRC have 1300mAh 4S just under £20. Not had luck with Turnigy lipos either!!

  • Reman: Just realised that I hadn't gone through my stored Li-Po's for about a month. I try to visually check them every Saturday, And prod the plugs with a multimeter about once a month. Todays seen 12 more bulging packs go out to the incinerator..... All but one was a bloody Turnigy! Part of me wan't to burn the rest now and just get a load more Tattu packs, But I've spent good money on these packs and wan't to at least get a little more use out of them. :(

  • Bad Raven: Pre MR's I used to buy a lot from J.Perkins. Their website showed all items and stock or due date, go to dealer and buy with confidence. Then they went all "lifestyle" and all the site had were pictures or people. I wasn't after people. I never bought again. Yes, you'd think they'd learn...........

  • ched999uk: Reman sounds like amazon search. I find it ok unitil you want to search by price then amazon falls apart.... You would think both companies would get it right...

  • Reman: It's strange. The original setup they had about 5 or 6 years back wasn't too bad (Except for them occasionally getting accounts hacked), But they changed it to the last one that was clunky and slow, Now they've replaced that with a flashier one that's also clunky and slow ?!?!?! Most companies learn from what they do wrong. I don't buy from HK half as much as I used to, Mainly because it takes forever to trawl through 100 pages of totally unrelated stuff while looking for something you were thinking about getting when you saw it there the previous week !!!

  • Reman: How thick is Google? You buy something online, Then for the next week you get targeted adds for the item you've just got?!?! That's the one item you're NOT going to be buying again at that point so it's wasted effort of there part. :)

Kakute f4 AIO
« on: August 20, 2017, 15:34:15 »
Finally got to test fly the Kakute f4 aio today,  it had been hovered indoors for a few mins just to check it out but  that was it.
I';m not really into mini quads as i';m crap at flying them but this is a game changer , it';s solid. After a couple of batts i was flying it like i stole it and on stock settings. The goalpost avoidance system works perfectly, and i managed a few back flips, the first one was not intentional  but after i worked  out how it happened i tried a couple more. Only one arrival due to very gusty wind  trying to avoid a tree. ;)

I haven';t got this excited over a f/c for ages this one has really got my frock up..
Attached is the pic i';m not going to post.. :whistling:

Looks good to me. If it flies and goes where you ask it is good

After having issues with Omnibus FC I am thinking I should look at an alternative.

The Kakute f4 aio is one I have considered but not sure on height (tight stack in Martian3). Can you tell me the height below the pcb, the thickness of pcb and height above pcb?

The other I am considering is the Matek F405 AIO but it means having batt connections at the side which may be vulnerable when I crash. Neither have baro and I was thinking it would be nice to see an idea of altitude.
Suppose I can';t have it all

That';s awesome, the Kakute F4 is rock solid even on stock settings, it supports SmartPort telemetry and lua scrips on the Taranis so tuning is a breeze.
They';ve hit the mark on this one ~~
Why use 4 motors when you can use 6?

Ched, dims on the manual  ~~
Oops file too big,the board is 7mm total thickness.

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.unmannedtech.co.uk/uploads/6/7/0/2/6702064/holybro_kakute_f4_aio_manual_v1.4.pdf&ved=0ahUKEwiZn52Fv-bVAhXOhrQKHSJzBzoQFghnMAY&usg=AFQjCNHB1HAmDX-Vf3Ceh6Z1zwUZveJ0Ug

Only problem I had was the pads have varnish on them,I gave them a scrub with a cotton bud with acetone  then a dab of flux pen, they then soldered a treat.

Thanks.
I did have a look through the manual but it only lists total height at 7mm. I currently only have about 1mm of clearance in the stack before hitting the top plate. So limited on standoff sizes. I think it would be fine as I currently have 7mm anti vib standoffs which I wouldn';t need so could probably go to 4mm which gives me an extra 3mm that could go on top of the Kakute.
Cheers and have fun.

Go for it, i recharged the batts and had to nip out and have another quick buzz when the wind dropped. If you use Spektrum  sat it can';t be bound via the C.L.I.  you have to bind with a main receiver before soldering, not mentioned in manual.

The only thing i fail to understand, :frantic: why all these FC don';t come with preinstalled pins to push in wires, instead of solder pads.

Its about saying space and weight, plus solder pads are better as it means a cleaner install.

There is a very good manual here: http://www.unmannedtech.co.uk/manuals/kakute-f3-all-in-one-manual. Have a good read, it should help you understand. The manual is written by Joshua Bardwell, so a very experienced guy.
