LOS "whoop" beecore / E010
« on: January 03, 2017, 15:10:34 »
Nothing new here but a little project for my last day of holiday.

I got a pair of E010 micro quads at Xmas and a beecore cleanflight FC.

I've fitted the new FC (flysky version) but have kept the conversion "lite" and stuck with the stock motors, stock battery & no cam (yet).

As the original motors don't have the connectors fitted, I've soldered them directly to the top of the FC. The beecore also comes with a losi connector but I've kept the original style to match the original battery.

I don't think the LEDs are set up to monitor battery level so I'll need to change that.

Some photos:

With a small piece of sticky pad the top cover can be kept.

I heard the 6mm motors on the e010 were terrible?

do they improve with the beecore at the helm?

Depends on your definition of terrible :-)
They handle the stock weight but not much more, I suspect. However, the battery is very small so it's probably balanced. I've got a 3 gram vtx on the way which might be too much for the stock motors.

Get the 17,000kv ones from RC Geeks, they make quite a difference, but do eat batteries.

It's now flashed with betaflight. Still to amend the PID tune to a brushed set up. Not sure if I can set up a low battery warning with the beecore LEDs, I'm not sure they are configured in the FC.

Had a minor repair tonight. The battery connector was getting moved around too much without strain relief so the wire snapped at the FC solder joint. Resoldered and hot glued the connector to the frame. 5 pack of batteries arrived so it got some test runs. Now running Mr Steele's bee brain PID tune and it seems to be okay (not that I can judge). Allowed me to get some practice in "rate mode".

Switched on air mode. Mostly, it seemed to power dive into the carpet mid flip. Flips okay in horizon mode but just a mess in air mode. More Betaflight research needed I think.

...I'm running 260mah 30c lipos...

I'm running mine with the Eachine camera/vtx and I've got to say it all feels very underpowered. I'm after some new batteries to get better flight times than the stock 150mah batteries, where did you get your 260s?

Also, do you have a link to the motor upgrades?

hmmmmm I got bored (granted its a very common occurrence for me)

so Ive got one of these on the way.

first thing Ill be doing it gutting that tiny diddy controller and making something a little more "man hand" size friendly with the aid of my trusty 3d printers, might design something a little mavic like in appearance and feel.

after that Ill have a look at the motor upgrades and fc's.

if I honest.... Ive only really bought it cos Im at a loss for anything to upgrade right now so this can be a victim till something else comes along

Not yet.

Still on stock motor and batteries. The cam is circa 3g so it can just about cope. Have only had a 1 battery test run so far.

dropped onto my matt before....

obviously being flight starved due to weather I immediatly shoved the batteries in and gave it a whirl.

nice little flyer stock, good for in-house giggles..... but my cats see it as something to swipe out the sky at first opportunity

as said tis pretty underpowered and by no means a screamer so wouldnt be much fun in a big open space (even on its high rate its a little....well.... pretty dam slow) but what do you expect for 13 quid?

battery lasted all of 4mins max....charged it to full..... about 4 mins flight again.

ditched the canopy.....every little gram counts.... flew again, gained a few micro horses back but still slow :huh

will need to look at these available upgrades bangood are chucking about, mainly those racerstar motors for starters then maybe a f3-evo fc.

but first, some experimenting.....

hmmm... so tiny.....

what if I was too.....

stock lipo = 150mah 30c
hubsan upgrade lipo = 500mah 35c

hmmmmm isnt gonna fit in that crappy little battery mount underneath....

soooo.....were's the missus loom bands again......

and... does it fly.

yep

pretty much aswell as it did with the stock lipo and canopy (weights probably around the same...have to check that in a bit) but now it flew for 6 mins with plenty of flipping and cat chasing ::).

little more punchy with the extra 5c but still nothing incredible, definitely need the new motors and fc if Im gonna make it tear about like I want it too, also need to design and print some form of battery mount for the large 1s's.....

actually now I think about it............. buy new motors, new control board, modified 3d printed frame..... feck-it, I might aswell just start from bloody scratch :blink

That sounds good  ~~ I had a look inside my little Tx,,,, and I think a mod into a standardish size/custom made tx would be cool and quite easy.

its like trying the fly with a baked bean

the f3-evo's are flysky compatible so I might just wait till I get one in and try it with my x9.

as a note, the advertised "one-button-RTH" feature is more like "One-Button-GWTFIW"

Headless mode works well

I cant use "noob mode", having learnt from scratch with no trainer aids it just confuses the crap out of my hand-eye co-ordination

these things might make a good alternative to the hubsan x4 as a starter quad though, granted there small so a bit harder to see at range but there as stable as Ive seen beyond the hubsan. :hmm:

The whole point is they are indoor friendly. I'd never bother to take it outside. Can smack off the walls / furniture/ ceiling with no damage.
I've got an upgraded LOS hubsan but that is better outside on a calm day within a modest range (easy to lose track of heading after 50m).

Once the weather improves and my indoor fpv skill is getting better, I'll try the QX95 outside (fpv).

quick design I just threw together with minimum mass weight, think Ill print it out tommorow and see how it compares weight wise to the original....

If it shows promise with the stock parts Ill adapt it for the F3 Fc and new motors.

Ran through my stack of E010 batteries this evening for a practise. The fpv works from every corner of the house which I didn't really expect with a 25mw vtx. Great fun and a good safe introduction to fpv. A few more sessions and I'll be fully confident to go fpv outside with the qx95 (only flown LOS with the qx95 so far).

Only angle mode though, long way to go before I'm doing rate mode via fpv.

Nice idea. I like the ducts though, part of the bullet proof appeal for me. Then again, I have some spare 7mm motors that would be a good upgrade and those won't fit in the e010 frame. Would need to drill the prop for the larger motor shaft but that's a minor thing.

dont drill

take a lighter to a sewing needle held in a pair of needle-nose pliers, itll open the prop shaft hole alot more smoothly and more precise than drilling.
