I just got a Micro FPV drone, I';m not using FPV at the moment so I';ve disconnected the VTX to save weight until i get some goggles, but should this micro VTX get so hot you cant keep your finger on it for more than a few seconds?

it';d help if we knew which of the dozens of AIO';s available your asking about?.

if its the Eachine range with a mw range above 25mw then yes they get pretty hot, the TX02 gets particularly toasty running 200mw, some points on the camera cant be touched with skin after 5mins but its generally fine aslong as theres good airflow across the unit when in flight.

Thanks that makes me feel better, its the VM275T v1.2

at 25mww Id expect to see temps around the 70 mark at most (more or less warm to the touch but not uncomfortably) but it might simply be a characteristic of that particular AIO to run hot, worst case scenerio it';ll fry itself, not likely to see any death defying explosions.

I';ve had a couple of  mini  v/tx that ran very hot, just to be safe I cut some of the shrink off and bonded a small heatsink on them. Don';t know if it really helped but they still work.

yup they heat up rather quick without any or good airflow around them even then some are still rather roasty.
Point and click.
