Afro 20amp esc not arming/calibrating

I have a quad I';m building with afro 20amp ESC connected to a naze32.

I can';t get one of the ESCs to arm/calibrate The green light is on it makes all the right noises etc on power up.

If I power up without the servo connection to the FC it beeps to say no signal

If I do the throttle travel calibration on just that one motor/ESC it makes the noise on power up sensing the high throttle but when I pull the signal to minimum it doesn';t then complete the calibration.

Any suggestions please?

:hmm: a little strange that, i';d maybe try reflashing the firmware, have you done anything to them in that way at all?

AdeChapmanlaw

just pulled them out the packet and connected them up.

I dont have a firmware flasher :-(

nub

try lowering your min throttle just to see what it does, no reason for it to need a lower throttle though, should be the same as the rest.

does it work otherwise?

ok so have done some more playing. confirm some details and add some more

so motor/esc 2 doesnt work if plugged into port 2 on naze32, also doesnt work if plugged into others.

im testing using the motors dialogue in cleanflight. no RX currently connected.

pulled power lead from motor1 and put in power and zero back into the connector of motor 2.

still doesnt work

connect motor2 to an a spare RX and it DOES arm and run when controlled from a tx (futaba 8fg)

so it must be something to do with the pulse length idle pulse length that this one esc doesn';t like....

#5
i';ve no idea about that kind of stuff

i';m getting slightly confused.

so the ESC/motor combo you have on motor output 2 isn';t arming/calibrating or running, it doesn';t on any of the other outputs either, but the combo works fine using just a Rx and Tx.

:hmm:

very strange indeed, kind of lost with that one, return or try flashing with the same or new firmware to see if makes any difference.

only things i can think of.

So is this blheli? Oneshot? (Don';t use Afro)

nub

they come with simonk firmware i think my 12A Afro';s did.

ok after more digging and experimenting it does appear that the "faulty" esc has an older version of firmware. without oneshot.

Disabling one shot in cleanflight and the esc to works.

and double checking the product description

"• Now Shipping with OneShot125.
Some stocks may require to flash ESC to OneShot125 via flash tool referenced in the related items."

bugger

nub

nippy but easy to fix, buy yourself an Arduino nano, it can be used to flash ESC';s with simonk or blheli bootladers, a handy tool to have.
