  • ched999uk: RaceDayQuads have some cheap but good batts out now. Josh B tested and stats say very good especially at price. HobbyRC have 1300mAh 4S just under £20. Not had luck with Turnigy lipos either!!

  • Reman: Just realised that I hadn't gone through my stored Li-Po's for about a month. I try to visually check them every Saturday, And prod the plugs with a multimeter about once a month. Todays seen 12 more bulging packs go out to the incinerator..... All but one was a bloody Turnigy! Part of me wan't to burn the rest now and just get a load more Tattu packs, But I've spent good money on these packs and wan't to at least get a little more use out of them. :(

  • Bad Raven: Pre MR's I used to buy a lot from J.Perkins. Their website showed all items and stock or due date, go to dealer and buy with confidence. Then they went all "lifestyle" and all the site had were pictures or people. I wasn't after people. I never bought again. Yes, you'd think they'd learn...........
    July 15, 2018, 17:51:40
  • ched999uk: Reman sounds like amazon search. I find it ok unitil you want to search by price then amazon falls apart.... You would think both companies would get it right...
    July 15, 2018, 16:54:55
  • Reman: It's strange. The original setup they had about 5 or 6 years back wasn't too bad (Except for them occasionally getting accounts hacked), But they changed it to the last one that was clunky and slow, Now they've replaced that with a flashier one that's also clunky and slow ?!?!?! Most companies learn from what they do wrong. I don't buy from HK half as much as I used to, Mainly because it takes forever to trawl through 100 pages of totally unrelated stuff while looking for something you were thinking about getting when you saw it there the previous week !!!
    July 15, 2018, 16:27:21
  • hoverfly: I don't think there is a search button on H/King. They updated the site and forgot to  relabel the search button with  Random bo##ocks..

  • Bad Raven: Agree - The Search is abysmal!!
    July 15, 2018, 08:40:52
  • Reman: I see HobbyKing's revamped their site again...... Shame they haven't made the search function work any better, Or worked out why the whole site goes slower than a pensioner in a Nissan Micra. :)
    July 15, 2018, 08:28:14
  • Reman: How thick is Google? You buy something online, Then for the next week you get targeted adds for the item you've just got?!?! That's the one item you're NOT going to be buying again at that point so it's wasted effort of there part. :)

  • Reman: The ergonomics of the TGY feel better, But every new revision of the firmware brought more bugs (The last version had a bug where opening the gimble menu would cause the TX to crash and reset to factory defaults !!!). So what I was hoping was to end up with a stable FS-i10 with a nicer layout.

Whats up with the back light?

Early models they were a bit iffey, probably been fixed by now.  I did think of getting one when they first came out  but i didnt find the menu/interface user freindly , i was using a dx8,  being a lazy old fart  i went for the dx9. It realy gets up my nose when you buy something and then have to fart about replacing bits and tweaking it.
This put me off getting a 3d printer, luckily i got one secondhand and the previous owner had done all the mods. ::)
Reptile folder , alien 500 , F/ Shark Attitudes,

I must admit, I';m a bit lazy. I would love a 3D printer as I know nothing about them, I don';t know much about computers more like a love hate relationship.

But then, you don';t................

I have an early Batch 2 first few months Taranis, and its used several days each week to fly RC and all the time on Sims (just been on DRL).

Its original in all respects, the sticks are still totally slop free, the backlight works perfectly, etc, etc.  I have currently 54 models (inc Sims) loaded to it, it has a Futaba FASST module to use up my old Rx';s. Not had a moments concern with regard range, reliably of link with  Internal or External RF.

I have a DSM2/DSMX DX9, and its no more user friendly or logical to use, just different.

The only thing I don';t like with Spektrum is the choosing plane type and the failsafes. You have to spend a lot of money to be able to program your own failsafes, that" hold last command " its a killer.

Little buggers! yes it would make short work of a pigeon, you can pick up a pretty decent air rifle for cheap if you buy from Europe and you can have it posted to your door legally, unlike if you buy in the UK you have to buy face to face at a gun shop or posted to your local RFD, its a pretty dumb law.

Selecting the a/c type just sets the output channels to their default switches, after that  i swap them around as required.  The manual is writen in american, which is nearly as bad as chinglese. ::)
I';ve always set failsafe to bind position for planks and for multi rotors set it on the f/c. Dont know why its expensive. :beer2:

Eachine ProDVR. I';d got the micro cam/vtx/dvr so thought I';d have a look at the forerunner DVR unit.  Ordered and received in three days (Banggood). I have hooked it up for now from a headset with its output going to a screen.

Works well for such a cheap unit.

They don';t state the pitch and it looks variable to me, about 5030 at base and tip to about 5045/5050 in the middle of the blade

Very rigid, tons of power, good grip, needs a good tune, more prone to prop wash than my normal props, very accurate,

Definatley a heavy prop, wouldn';t put on a 2205 2300 as I would expect a hit on efficiency and responsiveness, gave me maybe 10-20 seconds flight time less than even racekraft 5051

( got the nylon/glass version, on the whole I like them more than I liked the rk when I first tried them, the rk grew on me so I will persist with these and see where I get to)

See above mate, only had a brief fly at lunch time (3 packs) but will keep them on for the mo

Edit: ok spent the afternoon throwing packs through these.
I can certainly fly as fast and as agile as I can with other props (I currently use hq5040v1s, hq5040 s tip, racekraft5051 and sometimes dal cyclones)
Had to adjust the notch filters a little and drop p a couple of points but they hold up,very well in flight appart from:

Prop wash - it isn';t major but can';t get rid of it, certainly more than the other props, I suspect due to the super stiff blades

Efficiency - slightly shorter flight times than the shortest I get with the above (rk) and slightly more voltage sag on punch or fast manouver.

Which leaves me with the question "why?"
Sure they look cool, but there is a cost to using them. I think in summary I won';t be bothering
