  • ched999uk: RaceDayQuads have some cheap but good batts out now. Josh B tested and stats say very good especially at price. HobbyRC have 1300mAh 4S just under £20. Not had luck with Turnigy lipos either!!

  • Reman: Just realised that I hadn't gone through my stored Li-Po's for about a month. I try to visually check them every Saturday, And prod the plugs with a multimeter about once a month. Todays seen 12 more bulging packs go out to the incinerator..... All but one was a bloody Turnigy! Part of me wan't to burn the rest now and just get a load more Tattu packs, But I've spent good money on these packs and wan't to at least get a little more use out of them. :(

  • Bad Raven: Pre MR's I used to buy a lot from J.Perkins. Their website showed all items and stock or due date, go to dealer and buy with confidence. Then they went all "lifestyle" and all the site had were pictures or people. I wasn't after people. I never bought again. Yes, you'd think they'd learn...........
    July 15, 2018, 17:51:40
  • ched999uk: Reman sounds like amazon search. I find it ok unitil you want to search by price then amazon falls apart.... You would think both companies would get it right...
    July 15, 2018, 16:54:55
  • Reman: It's strange. The original setup they had about 5 or 6 years back wasn't too bad (Except for them occasionally getting accounts hacked), But they changed it to the last one that was clunky and slow, Now they've replaced that with a flashier one that's also clunky and slow ?!?!?! Most companies learn from what they do wrong. I don't buy from HK half as much as I used to, Mainly because it takes forever to trawl through 100 pages of totally unrelated stuff while looking for something you were thinking about getting when you saw it there the previous week !!!
    July 15, 2018, 16:27:21
  • hoverfly: I don't think there is a search button on H/King. They updated the site and forgot to  relabel the search button with  Random bo##ocks..

  • Bad Raven: Agree - The Search is abysmal!!
    July 15, 2018, 08:40:52
  • Reman: I see HobbyKing's revamped their site again...... Shame they haven't made the search function work any better, Or worked out why the whole site goes slower than a pensioner in a Nissan Micra. :)
    July 15, 2018, 08:28:14
  • Reman: How thick is Google? You buy something online, Then for the next week you get targeted adds for the item you've just got?!?! That's the one item you're NOT going to be buying again at that point so it's wasted effort of there part. :)

Ive got mine hooked into my little mini ground station, a few have hooked it straight into the googles but if its wired "inline" the image latency can be a killer, you can definitely note a delay in the image on my GS screen when compared with the one viewed through my googles.

Just wire it in parallel to the vrx. As you say dont run vtx through the minidvr otherwise you will introduce latency.
Great little DVR though. Although you might need the updated FW from RCGroups as standard FW was cutting bottom 20% of image on PAL. So not good if your gps info is at bottom!!!! ::)

parallel is how Id have done it if I was hooking it into goggles but you lose the ability to use the "playback" feature, just means you have to pop the card and slot it into your pc/tablet to have a watch though.

with it on my GS Its not such a concern cos I aint using it to pilot fpv ~~

I have 2 switches on my goggles. This enables me to switch feed to monitor between vtx, dvr and cam mounted on goggles to assist landing  ::) Well it will when the switches arrive as currently just switch between goggle cam and vtx with cable swap to view dvr footage.

Funny as I just fitted an old prodvr I smashed months ago onto my goggles (ev800) I had to solder the inputs to the goggles motherboard/electronics but,I had to plug the outputs into the side of the goggles av in input.to record picture/what the goggles see,I have to switch the goggles to av and record the av input.

I actually fitted a new prodvr to my rebuilt 250 that I finally took for maiden yesterday but,the cameras lense wasn';t secured with a ring thingy and was vibrating so the pic went out of focus fast,on top of that the tx was on a bad frequency/band and was black banding all time.

Hopefully I get some dvr footage today weather permitting cos now I can hopefully record any quad I fly.

I think this is the FW I used: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=35788376
I think you just unzip the file and copy the file/s to a bank microsd card then insert into the dvr and apply power. The new FW will be installed automatically but wait about 5 mins. Then reboot and select PAL and HD and you get full PAL recording.
Obviously there is a risk of bricking the dvr but in the same thread there are instructions to un brick it.
Hopefully that should help?
Good Luck and let us know how you get on.

Two long awaited orders landed at the same time today. From BG; some impossibly small (1103 10,000kv) motors for the Bumper, along with some 1g ESCs and a camTX. From GetFPV the 35A ESCs for the Alien 6" and some 19,000kv motors for the Whoop.

I got pulled by a guy in a car on way back from flying in park, thought he was asking direction.he god "you the guy flying the quadcopter in park" I thought he was a cop at first till he pulled out a micro, sporting the same racestar motors.

Yes they are tiny,he wouldn';t let me hold his quad in case I ran off with it.

along with some 1g ESCs

dunno how well the 6a racerstar v2';s compare but Im using 20a v2';s in my podracer design and despite them being shockingly cheap from BG there crackin esc, ran 3s and 4s with high c ratings through mine fo over an hour and theyve not skipped a beat or even show much heat build up which really surprised me given how compact theyve managed to keep them.

that fw works

just updated mine.

word of caution though, even after following the directions and everything appearing to work right the unit can still come on in its old screen format (with the lower section of screen cut-off).

before you go ahead and try to reflash again thinking something didnt work right, try switching between NTSC & PAL or vice versa, for some bizarre reason Ive found this gives the new firmware a little nudge and it starts to behave again with you getting the whole screen image you were after.

Finally got around to wiring it all up today and works fine out of the box. No firmware updates and no image cropping. :D

even the newer firmware gliches once in a while though and crops the lower screen slightly I found, quick switch to playback mode and back before you start a fresh recording sorts it though ~~
