  • ched999uk: RaceDayQuads have some cheap but good batts out now. Josh B tested and stats say very good especially at price. HobbyRC have 1300mAh 4S just under £20. Not had luck with Turnigy lipos either!!

  • Reman: Just realised that I hadn't gone through my stored Li-Po's for about a month. I try to visually check them every Saturday, And prod the plugs with a multimeter about once a month. Todays seen 12 more bulging packs go out to the incinerator..... All but one was a bloody Turnigy! Part of me wan't to burn the rest now and just get a load more Tattu packs, But I've spent good money on these packs and wan't to at least get a little more use out of them. :(

  • Bad Raven: Pre MR's I used to buy a lot from J.Perkins. Their website showed all items and stock or due date, go to dealer and buy with confidence. Then they went all "lifestyle" and all the site had were pictures or people. I wasn't after people. I never bought again. Yes, you'd think they'd learn...........

  • ched999uk: Reman sounds like amazon search. I find it ok unitil you want to search by price then amazon falls apart.... You would think both companies would get it right...
    July 15, 2018, 16:54:55
  • Reman: It's strange. The original setup they had about 5 or 6 years back wasn't too bad (Except for them occasionally getting accounts hacked), But they changed it to the last one that was clunky and slow, Now they've replaced that with a flashier one that's also clunky and slow ?!?!?! Most companies learn from what they do wrong. I don't buy from HK half as much as I used to, Mainly because it takes forever to trawl through 100 pages of totally unrelated stuff while looking for something you were thinking about getting when you saw it there the previous week !!!

  • hoverfly: I don't think there is a search button on H/King. They updated the site and forgot to  relabel the search button with  Random bo##ocks..

  • Bad Raven: Agree - The Search is abysmal!!
    July 15, 2018, 08:40:52
  • Reman: I see HobbyKing's revamped their site again...... Shame they haven't made the search function work any better, Or worked out why the whole site goes slower than a pensioner in a Nissan Micra. :)
    July 15, 2018, 08:28:14
  • Reman: How thick is Google? You buy something online, Then for the next week you get targeted adds for the item you've just got?!?! That's the one item you're NOT going to be buying again at that point so it's wasted effort of there part. :)

I got the v1.4 replacement DVR module for my Eachine goggles today, it took about a month to arrive from Banggood. This should overcome the black frames issue but I think I also need to drill a few holes in the case to prevent overheating.

FlySky FS-A8S micro receiver

Yup, I have one awaiting a use!!

Yesterday a Diatone SP3 VTX arrived, 0/25/200/600 switchable, 48 channel.

Love the instructions, apparently "flying up the crowd is strictly prohibited"     :hmm:   :slap:

Oh and two tiny 70mAh 1S for a micro plane...........from a UK retail source...........arrived hiding in a corner of a massive box!!

OK, when reading the following keep in mind that I live in urban London, fairly dense housing, lots of addresses.

Postie knocks on door, two for you he says, at least he follows up, we know for sure one is!

It transpires that a package (black bag) with near unreadable label arrives in local Delivery Office. They could read BR2, and little or nothing else.

They apparently discussed it amongst the group and decided it must be for me because I get more than anybody and a lot of them look like this one.  ::)

Opened, it was the long lost micro cam/tx Banggood sent on the 27th Sept. It had been trapped somewhere that had almost burned the label from friction, it was blackened!

Inside it was all good, foam intact, box undamaged, and it works.............  ~~

Now, is it good that they know me simply because I get more packages than the rest of the Borough!!??  :wack0

Heh heh.   Amazing.  That';s a quality postal service you got!

My postie nervously asked me what all the parcels were the other week.  He said they';d wondered for months what all the small packets and boxes from China were.  He seemed somewhat relieved when I explained they were Multi-rotor parts.  I guess handling lots of small parcels from a company called Bang Good is going to raise the odd question!  lol

Got home to find my replacment brushed 8520 Inductrix style 3D printed frame had arived from BangGood. Unfortunately, This one';s even more bust up than the original.

The first one had a broken duct, And a couple of the motor support struts snapped. The replacment was wrapped in 2 layers of thin foam and it looks like posty has stamped on it. Rather than listing all the broken parts, It';s easier to say that one of the ducts and a motor mount are still attached together with a strut, The rest is all smashed to hell and back.

Bloody annoyed about this though as this was a replacment for the original one that was broken in transit due to inappropriate packin, And they don';t seem to have learnt from their mistake. All the rest of the build parts for this one are just sitting there on my desk, Still looking like a boring bunch of components without a home. :(

I';m thinking I';ll be asking for a refund this time rather than trying for the hat trick. :(
I need a pay rise........ Though I'd settle for a reduction in the amount of hours I need to work to get the same money.

Thanks for the offer, but I';ve already taken a punt on one of these pretty little frames........ http://www.banggood.com/Blade-Inductrix-Model-MQDFV-100A-100mm-Aggress-Mini-DF-DIY-Frame-Quadcopter-Support-8520-Motor-p-1106550.html .... Now I just need to wait another 2 weeks for it to get here. :(

After the first 3d printed frame got partly broken in the post I tried flexing the remains of it a bit to see how strong it really was. It left me not totally convinced that it would have survived long with my "Abrupt landings" anyway. Having the second one turn up shattered has really put me off the idea of 3d printing for a frame thats likely to sustain some pretty rapid furniture based decelerations while ripping around my house.

It really does depend on what filament you use to print frames, I know first hand carbon fibre filiment is strong as the mighty plenty kitchen roll lol one sheet really does plenty, anyway back to frames. I do have stuff printed with the above stuff and it is strong. Enjoy the frame anyhow

I finally took delivery of my Flysky FS-i6X 10ch radio and I6B I-Bus receiver from banggood. I couldn';t get it to work with I-Bus but then there are 2 ports and I only tried one of them, I switched over to PPM and it worked so I just left it on that one.

It arrived with loads of cables to allow me to use different ports but none of these were any good as I needed one to go from UART3 to the tiny PPM port on the receiver, so I had cut and solder one to get it working.

At the minute its just cable tied to the back next to the VTX but I need to sort this out, any suggestions on how to mount the RX properly? the holes line up nicely with the ones holding the FC but aren';t big enough so I would have to drill the RX to make it fit on there.

Looks like there is enough pcb area around the holes so that they can be made a bit bigger.

All my stuff is taped together with electrical tape  ::)

It currently is loosely held on with a cable tie, I was thinking of getting some double sided sticky foam but it will be messy if I need to re locate it when I add stuff like a buzzer and OSD in the future.

4x racestar 2206 2600 motors, wanted to try these out to see how they stand up to red bottoms, decided on bigger more powerfull 2206 because they were there at the time.

Very small 600tvl cam for my lizard, great little cam at the moment as its fitted but not flown, will be interesting to see how it performs.

5 packets gemfan 3020 props for my rotorx atom as the rotorx perform good but bend and get cuts in leading edge so needed some which are more sturdy.
