CBQ330H - FPV w/GoPro frame - work in progress

Raf

Hi everyone.
My latest creation CBQ330H - although it';s almost X.

Frame is currently cut from FR4/G10 but eventually will be Carbon Fibre although I';m considering to offer frame in both versions FR4/G10 and Carbon Fibre.

Dirty/Clean sections isolated with vibration mounts.
Flight controller mounting points for anything - KK2, Naze32, APM, PixHawk, Dji Naza etc.
6" propellers
16-19mm M3 Motor mounts - 22xx series motors
GoPro plus any cased flight camera
Gimbal ready
Battery bay 44x35x130 - 2200-3700mAh 4S
ESC 20-30A Afro or similar

A the moment there is 3D printed mount for GoPro case although it will have bolted on GoPro cage. Also 3D printed spacers between dirty plates creating dihedral at 3% (inwards) this should help stability/yaw and will be as upgrade.

GoPro cage together with 10deg seat done. Need some adjustments but it look good me think and make frame lighter.

What motors and esc';s are you subjection Raf,

I';ve got set of Tiger MN2206-13 2000kv motors ready for it. They will be matched with 30A Afro Opto ESC';s flashed with BlHeli and OneShot enabled. Swinging 6x4.5 HQ props on 4S batteries.

Hey Raf, a bijoux suggestion for the top plate ... add a 6mm hole at a suitable position for a panel-mount SMA connector to be passed through for the VTX antenna to attach.  There are a lot of holes in the top plate but none of them are of a suitable size for such purpose. ~~

There is 10 6mm holes on top plate Danny  ;)
3 behind flight camera, 4 almost at the centre and 3 at the back - last 3 not really to be used as it';s a battery bay.

I suppose to start build today but I spend whole day on redesigning and redefining clean section. Designed absolutely new front/camera section and redone bottom plate of dirty section. I won';t be able to cut it straight away as don';t have enough material but will cut new front section - will see what you think.

What thickness the arms gonna be Raf,

And have you put mounting holes for a PDB in the bottom dirty plate?

Arms are 3mm thick at the moment but on final I';m planning 4mm. There are holes for 30.5mm hole pattern PBD on bottom plate.

Suggestion for you Raf, this may help with yaw, reverse the rotation of your motors, changing props as well.

You have angled the arms to help with yaw but in the normal set up motors 2&3 are increased to yaw CW but the angled motors will have a component that will cause it to yaw CCW. It may or may not start to oscillate with the angle you have, it certainly did on the 15deg A-Tail I made.

Changing the motor direction will get the torque induced yaw in the same direction as the yaw from the angle.

Hope that makes sense. Oh yeah that';s CF/BF motor numbering and you will need a custom mix for the motors.
This is what I';m using for my double V quad.

mixer CUSTOM
cmix 1 1.000 -1.000 1.000 1.000
cmix 2 1.000 -1.000 -1.000 -1.000
cmix 3 1.000 1.000 1.000 -1.000
cmix 4 1.000 1.000 -1.000 1.000

I think that makes sense as well atomiclama.

When i angled the motors on my 250 quad i went with an A-Tail setup;

Which means sideways thrust and torque yaw both act in the same direction.

But i had to sit down and think about things for a bit before i was sure!

I made sense when I built it and it flew quite well, but I wanted to see what would happen with the wrong config so I rewired it all. It took off and just hovered there shaking back and forth not knowing which way to turn  ::)

Motors are actually angled in the other direction but is worth a try a least. Will report on that

I think that';s what we were suggesting. On my A-Tail setup the back motors are angled inwards so that thrust and torque yaw effects line up assuming your back motors are spinning outwards away from each other which is the default behaviour on most flight controllers.

i.e when the back right clockwise motor and prop spins up on my A-Tail the torque effect means that because the mass of the prop is accelerating in the clockwise direction the aircraft frame is turned in the counter clockwise direction in an equal and opposite reaction. Because the same motor and prop is also tilted slightly pointing some air sideways, inwards and to the left towards the aircraft, this will push the back of the aircraft to the right further increasing the same counter clockwise turning force.

Since your motors tilt the opposite way to mine you';ll want to reverse your motor spin directions to get this same positive effect.

Raf here is my current lashup  ::)

http://www.multi-rotor.co.uk/index.php?topic=13428.0

Motors angled same way as yours but @15deg, reversed standard quad-x motor rotation and used the cmix that I listed above.

Very stable, very good yaw, I can descend on minimum throttle with no noticeable wobble. LOS that is.

Yep but the theory is the same you need the yaw from torque and thrust to be in the same direction.

Now I can see
I was pondering about Cmix the other day but it was more about my Disco config then this frame.
