Finally succumbed to peer pressure and have "pulled the trigger"

After weeks of umming and arring, I finally bit the bullet, pulled the trigger, got the wallet out and ordered all the parts for a DJI 450 clone (RCtimer) and KK2 LCD board.

Then my mate tells me there';s this great site and here I am soaking up as much info as possible.  :notworthy: Great threads in here. All I can do now is wait for the parts to come and the build will commence!  :crossfingers:

Plenty of folks on here knowledgeable about all sorts of stuff, I';m sure with your electronics background you';ll be fine.

It all "makes sense" once you get to grips with terminology etc.

Good luck with the build mate, the kk2.0 manual i';ve posted is for the v1.4 firmware, so some options in the menu system may not be listed but theirs loads of people on chat that can give you advice if you wanted answers staight away.

Hope the parts arrive soon and your build goes sweet.

Let us know how you are getting on and any questions just ask ....  ~~

Wow, thanks everybody. I knew it was friendly in here but this is bordering past the ridiculous and into OCD!  ~~

The parts and build that I went for seems to be common yet everyone is willing to give a helping hand. I only hope I can return the favour when the time comes.  :crossfingers:

But of course the more time I spend in here, the more I am afflicted by the "oooh... that will look nice on my quad"...

I was originally thinking of keeping it simple and "I';ll learn to walk before I can run" kind of philosophy, but dammit, then I see GoPro Blacks, TBS discovery frames, carbon fibre everywhere... I don';t feel well...

Speaking of clones, i also just ordered this and its on its way to me now.
Its is a clone of my TBS discovery and i will use it for a bashing FPV quad without all the bells and whistles of my main craft.

Two parcels arrived at my door today. The one day I didn';t pester the wife to find out if any packages have arrived and they turn up... who';d have thought.....

BUT!!!! The kit appears not to have any screws to bolt the arms to the top / bottom frame... The instructions say they are the 450-M3 x 8 (16 of them) anbd 450-M2.5 x 5 (24 of them)..... should they be in the kit that rctimer sell?

I bought this: http://rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=787&productname=

I am sooooo gutted as it';s Chinese new year now and am unlikely to see any correspondence from them for another 2 weeks!!!  :frantic:

Will drop them a note anyway to see what they say...

Right - I';ve emailed, forumed and messaged (within the order) to ask for the missing packs of screws. I keep these for spares etc

In the meantime, I';ve ordered from ebay for equivilant screws with round heads, hex hold and complete thread so that should come Monday.

And a mate has spare wiring to make battery connector to the board.

Whole frame is held together with PC motherboard screws so I can work out component placement, etc... whole thing is smaller than I thought it would be.

Also, since I have the time this weekend, will balance the props.

Is it acceptable to file off the excess of one arm to balance?
