Micro / Mini Copters / Lantian 130
« on: July 06, 2017, 15:56:40  »
After losing my rotorx atom (flyaway) due to no failsafe on rx,i decided to get me another 120ish sized micro with powerfull motors so decided to build a lantian 130.

Dys 3030 tris enter the frame at the front which is bummer,as long as nothing gets snipped by spinning props i shpuld be ok,so there definately a need to keep the area at the front clear of wires.

Lantian 130 frame.
Emax 1306 4000.
Holybro kakute aio fc/pdb.
Racestar 30a esc.
Dys 3030 tris.
Running on dinogy 800 65c 4s.

No fpv gear yet but i will sort that out.

General Discussion / Runcam swift equivelants?
« on: May 16, 2017, 17:47:49  »
Which other camera options are available that have runcam swift size and the type of connectors for bolting it into frame cam mounts, like the swivel tilt bolts and the bolts that hold the cam in posistion like on the back of a swift?

I ordered and am expecting a geprc leopard and i want to mount a cam properly (just like cherads does) rather than ghetto with cellotape and hot glue.

i got a runcam slyplus, thats the fanciest cam i own.

Transmitters / Receivers / Fc or something else
« on: May 09, 2017, 16:00:53  »
Things i havnt tried yet are,to try a different rx.

So i taken delivery holybro kakute v1 aio fc,everything wired up bar fpv gear.everything is checked, ppm etc etc.motors/esc calibrated and spin up fine in betaflight motor tab.

Modes set,arm switch,flicks etc.

Gos to reciever tab and as soon as i turn on the tx the luttle quad on the right side pic starts to tumble.i tried arming quad but quad wont arm but the only thing i see wrong is this quad picture/animation tumbling.stick movement and switchs are recognised.i tried rebinding the rx but same thing, motors work in motor tab, modes arm switch switchs, gos in reciever tab and theres the pic of quad tumbling.

I havnt tried another rx unit yet to see if its rx related or if its fc related.

Its been calibrated ok,everything checks out bar once i turn tx on,the quad flips continously and i cant arm quad.

Had a catastrophic esc wipeout, quite literaly all the esc got was also on a naze using a 5v pololu, esc were all daisy chained.

This time.

20a racestar esc.
1306 emax red bottoms.
Dtfc (pdb/fc allin1)
Flysky x6b (think it is) rx.
Dys 25/200 vtx (runs off 5v)
1/4 600tvl cmos camera.
Realacc rhcp antenna.

Am waiting on replacing the vtx fir another that can have the sma connector removed easier as i tried on one already and ripped the pads off trying so getting alternate replacement, then i will run a skinny antenna.

Its wearing dys 3030 tris (think its 3030) its a screamer,realy fast on 800 65c 4s.

Transmitters / Receivers / Get 7v tx to work from 5v?
« on: April 06, 2017, 18:23:27  »
Can i get a 7v vtx working from 5v as i have a few of them but i read somewhere about removing the regulator or something and not an exact how to.

Anyone know, try not to suggest a stepup as i want to save weight and use an antenna directly soldered to the vtx as i tried with a dys 25/200 that ran off 5v but the sna ipoed the antenna pad iff the vtx ruining it so them ones are no good as you damage the connections.i dont fancy paying £25 fir tbs unify vtx.

So hiw can i get a 7v rated vtx to run from 5v only bec without a stepup?

Reading its spec it looks like its got a 2mm shaft inside and it looks like an eclip.

General Discussion / Eachine feelcam
« on: January 21, 2017, 19:47:06  »
I got one couple weeks ago from Banggood, got to use it yesterday on a 250 I just first impressions are the unit looks good, easy to operate but the quality of picture is total crap!its full of latency and for some reason it feels the need to create a big 100mb+ avi file for just a few seconds of footage.

Looking inside the felt the need to use a mini cam with a ribbon connector, why didn't they just build a prodvr unit With a decent cmos cam attached?

It got me thinking now,if they can't upgrade the fw to get it working right can I attach a cam myself to this board?just video in needs to be attached, getting power and god ain't a prob.

Anybody see a video in that can be used for a separate camera, want to see if the prob is this silly little cam with ribbon connector or if it's just the board cant record good video.

General Discussion / Pololu stepdown
« on: January 02, 2017, 15:29:00  »
Am using dftc fc so no 12v reg,so wantvto run a tx thst takes 7-24v.didnt click on but used a 12v-12v pololu and was running 4s batteries and had it connected to the esc rail, today i broke the pololu as i didnt tealise it was taking 14.8v battery, its actualy shiwing 15.1-15.3ish on the esc rail when i meter it.

My question is,what voltage reg is best and where should i realy attach it,or perhaps use a 5v-12v stepup, can i do that, use a stepup on the5v reg esc rail,is that feasable and work.makes sense as the 5v wont fluctuate whereas the esc rail might go skatty when braking and cornering?

Looked at this:

But before i pull trigger,am i best buying a stepup,5v-12v?

Gonna be looking to buy around the next week, round crimbo time these things.what your thoughts, dont want to go crazy, they are more for uogrades bot new build.

1407 motors,rcx or tornados?

I would just buy 2 sets of racestar blhelis,20a and 30a but what benefits, different esc are out there that i can get perhaps from uk rather than 2week slow boats.

Going to more likely get a dtfc,i just started flying one after always using naze,it feels great (i think) but is there another equivalent i could try,i wouldnt mind a 12v/5v regulator for the cam/tx as the dtfc lacks them although i can live with it but what others are out there?

Any thoughts before i dive in,prefer uk source if possible?

General Discussion / Fc suggestion for round £40?
« on: December 08, 2016, 23:03:21  »
Dont know if this is correct place,so forgive me.

I looked at the dtfc and am wanting to get a fc with pdb for my 150 lizard, sick of daisy need one with pdb and one that can take 4s,dont need too much in way of bells and whistles only going to have a flytron led hooked to either 3v/5v and the usual, cam,tx and rx so dont need to go i can flash with cleanflight/betaflight.

Whats the choices for round £40ish delivered?

Thought i would ask before pulling trigger on a dtfc,is there anything i should know, any catchs?will be using 1306 red bottoms with lb's 20a blheli.a good solid robust fc,f3 or higher, good solid solder points, nicely laid out, will more likely solder the esc signal wires in so not too bothered about pins.

Thanks in advance.

How not!to do it.

Electronic Speed Controllers (Esc's) / Problem
« on: December 06, 2016, 21:42:42  »
Not bad esc not bad motor,as i switched esc yo different posistion of pdb, swapped motors and the esc and motirs work fine in other pdb places.pdb puts out 12v maybe a tad bit over .1-.3.

I was fine till my the quad came down, was fresh i am getting motor jitter at arm and up to 1009,at 1026 it spins same as all other motors in cleanflight, the motor tabs show  o probs ie:the fauly posistion dosnt falter from the other tabs, they move up together and the esc and motir works fine in other pdb and fc posistion.

What might be causing this 1 motor/esc to go bad soo low on the throttle.

I thought i had eradicated it yesterday as i got it to arm all motors together, went to fly today and midway through the flight i had cut out and quad dropped and now prob is here again.if i drop throttle it more likely makes the motor jitter,it kinda turns and stops but  ever picks up any speed.

I think i have got bad motor oscillations as these are 1306 red bottoms and the cam has bad breakup and black bands across it but i am going to put shorter bolts on motor and see if it rids the oscillations.dont think thats cause of the constant jitter at 0 throttle input or arm.

I am planning on changing the fc to see if i got fc problem,i noticed in cleanflight i couldnt turn oneshot off but in betaflight i could.

Any help will be appreciated,it might be the oscillations contributing to the prob but i will try my best to rid the prob.

The esc are lb's also, know about the red bottom lb's prob as had it on another continued on racestars until i changed the mounting bolts to shorter ones.

Chaoli 615.
Eachine naze32 brushed.
Flysky ppm micro rx.

Hovering on stop watch i get roughly 4mins on cheapo 500mah,advertised as 25c,which i doubt they some nano tech 500mah 25c-50c on way.

Butchered the prop guards a little (or a lot) messy work, should have been more precise.done the 2 blade interesting what its like with kingkong q25 fpv system,i got eachine tx01,think the q25 will fit in the battery compartment and camera right between the prop guards, battery underslung.

Diatone 150 lizard.
Naze32 fc.
Littlebee 20a blheli.
12-5vsteodown reg.
20 mw tx.
Very small 600tvl cmos wide angle cam.
One of gavs antennas.

Awaiting,emax 1306 4000 red bottoms,flysky ppm rx.

Had it on the go for over a month, perhaps even 2 months now, parts coming in bits and bats and then rethinking and putting different parts in the build.want to run 850 3s sized batteries, who knows maybe push it to 4s? :hmm:

Frames lovel, nice thick bottom frame and machined well, came with a pdb but i decided to daisy chain the power wires and fit a reg.the tx antenna will be most likely shortened.will be intetesting to see how the lizard flys, wanted to make a quad that had a frame suited for both smaller more confined areas and could fly footy pitchs at parks.

Just need to update my i6 to 10 channels and activate ppm on it for new rx to cut down on all that wiring.

Micro / Mini Copters / Brushed fc questions
« on: November 22, 2016, 19:37:57  »
Theres no need to plug a battery into a brushed fc is there if i am setting up the board in cleanflight, even when using the transmitter,it all shows movement in reciever tab.

If i plug a battery in at same time the quad kinda rumbles like the motors want to do something but they dont spin so not a good sign.

I dont have ppm on my tx and the fc is the echine evo with built in flysky ppm.i need to update the tx to get ppm but dont have the lead as yet, just waiting on it.

Also after i have flashed cleanflight to the board i should  bridge the boot pads?it keeps telling me to flash before i can connect to cleanflight so i assume i have to bridge the boot connections (opposite way round from naze32)

realacc 210 4mm version,fits like a glove,no issues at all (so far)
Emax red bottoms 2205 2300.
Racestar 30a blheli_s
Matek pdb or f3 5v/12 reg
Naze32 (thats whats in hand to cut down cost) its new unused.
Flysky i6 rx
Eachine 1000tvl

Challenges will be fitting it all in but i did it with a 122 atom so us achievable, goals are to get it done with no mess ups, most likely will be direct wire soldered, little to no connectors.keep wires short to save on weight, more soon.

Props / Prop Adapters / Best tri blades and where?
« on: October 31, 2016, 17:57:09  »
I was flying bog standard 5040 chinese ebay jobbies, then kingkong and then i shoved some triblades gandhi supplied me with ages ago.

Triple pusher 4x4x3,came in sets of 3 ccw/cw bagged seperate.think these are hqprops as the code is hq at start.

Think they were brilliant and left the other props standing, only with one minus, they break easy but no probs but its left me now with odd props and not a full set to fly with.

Anyone know the best place to get these props from in uk,whats peoples opinion on the dalprops tris?wheres the best place for them,i seen some of thr vendors sell props but seem most just sell the standard 2 blades who sells the tris?

Might seem lazy but i have seen dalprops sold for like £2.50ish minus post, are they good buy i see cheradanine likes recommending the hq (am i correct c3?) that thems good buy, wheres the best vendor to order them as peeved having to fly bog standard, would like bullnosed,i was using 4x4.5,so even thems cool for me,running red bottoms abd will be going to 4s when batteries areive.

Thanks in advance.

Batteries / Chargers / 3s battery for goggles?
« on: October 23, 2016, 22:25:30  »
I got a 3s battery,850 that is failing when used for flying,if i get a goggle power pin (have one) with + and - wires and solder them to a 3s female jst connector, can i use the battery for goggles?

I have a bigger 1400 also but maybe thats too big a risk,or maybe if i used a piece of velcro and fastened it on a quanum  cyclops,do people use 1400 for powering their goggles.

I currently use a 500 2s power set up for powering goggles, fat shark and can use on quanum but would like a seperate battery and lead for each so require one more set up,i could follow what the wiring/soldering is on the current 2s jst connector and wire a power lead to a 3s connector for 3s battery?

Good idea or not?better than discarding battery thats deemed no longer usefull for flying as sags fast.
