  • Is anyone flying the Mavic FPV with the Litchi App?
On a decent resolution Android phone it's surprisingly good.
Few bugs with the latest DJI F/W which is a shame. Not enough to make me roll back to an older version.
Can't help but think DJI have deliberately nobbled it because a third party PAID FOR app gets better review scores on the Play stare than the official buggy DJIO app.

  • DJI  state on the Mavic box their product has been designed for i-phone/ apple  equipment.
When it comes to Android or other systems  compatability is not a priority.

  • Very good afternoon flying, took the Phantom up with the Mavic, then flew 4 batteries on the wing ~~

Neat, were you using the follow mode on the Mavic?
and 4 batts on the wing is just greedy.. ::)

I can appreciate that, however it's not really a compatibility issue that bothers me. The Litchi app has so many more features (and some missing in the spirit of fairness) that it puts the DJI app to shame. Having FPV view is fantastic because a phone/tablet screen in bright sunlight (rare I know) is a PITA.
My phone has a quad HD screen and the quality of the video makes my Skyzones look like a kaleidoscope. DJI could easily build this into their app but they a probably avoiding that in the hope that it doesn't deter customers for what will undoubtedly be their overpriced FPV glasses once released.

Yeah I was using the active track mode with speed priority enabled.

On the wing I pulled some loops and rolls whilst my mate had his goggles on, he nearly fell over

Be careful if the R.S.P.C.A  find out there will be trouble. ::)

  • Met up at field with a couple of friends, flew Phantom, Russ flew his new Rad-jet with great skill, nice and fast................... had first flight with AXN, very quickly followed by first crash, by eck i am VERY rusty on fixed wing, got over 30 years of cobwebs to dust of, but it will fix

  • Weathers  looking good for tomorrow, going to make the most of it fine tuning the vector, and giving the Mavic a float.  Next week is not looking to good.

  • Managed to use all 3 packs on the mavic today.
Went out with a jumper on, sweating ma baws off.
Reviewed the footage when i got home, flew very close to a tree i didn't see. Avoidance sensors didn't kick in.😱

It's just the standard fixed camera on the hubsan, it was very windy so had to stabilise in youtube edit and it looses a bit of quality that way.

  • Great afternoon  cruising the Raven around  the field,  slight problem with the filter on the psu
it ain't working properly.  When the brain recovers i'll run the scope over it.
It might be a Mavic sunset flight tonight although the wind is picking up a bit.

    Screenshot  video wont load :banghead:

  • I was flying the Falcon around, have an issue with either the motor or ESC, when I cut the throttle, glide around and then put the power back on, the motor stutters and I have to cycle the throttle stick from off to on to get it to kick back into life, very odd problem, the wing is flying well.

If the motor runs up fine on launch then sounds like ESC.
Did not fly though i want to get the P3 back out and do a full IMU and gimbal calibration ready for the big trip out in a few weeks, but i made a point of putting all my 4s lipo`s into storage mode as not using them lately

  • D.B. if you have a program card for the ESC  it might be worth checking the settings, it may be on soft start and is fighting the rotation of the prop. Stuttering can also be one of the motor wires not properly connected.

I haven't got a programming card for this esc, so out of luck there, I think there might be a break in one of the motor wires, a new motor is in order I think.

P.I.T.A.  but the relative cost of a new motor against the loss of the a/c. it makes sense.
I've  fitted one of the following on mine with a 8x4 A.P.C.  prop, its at the lower end of the power range , the all up weight is 866 grams.super fast it ain't but on a 220/3cell  it stays up for ages. ::)

I fixed it, one of the wires was loose and fell out of the bullet connector, resoldered it, all is good now.

Also found my turnigy programming card, that worked too, so I've reset the ESC.
    No More glitching.

  • SO, This..............

Got a good thrashing LOS and FPV this morning at our Indoor Sports Hall venue.

    Flies for ages on a 750mAh 35/70C 1S NanoTech.

Reprise, its got all the bits taken off a second Whoopee frame that failed to 3D print well and they were just thrown on it, no set up changed, and it flies REALLY well, not to say amazing, I had three other quad flyers with me standing stunned as it grooved around like a 250. Felt like one or bigger, too. Can go full hands off in Angle and it will sit there hovering, I even put the Tx on the pit shelf for near 30 seconds!

Best of all my 100mm or smaller quads by far.

Wish I knew why!!

  • What frame is it@ bad raven?...could do with something like this for "work"

    This:-

    https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-Tiny-QX100-Micro-FPV-Racing-Quadcopter-Spare-Parts-Carbon-Fiber-DIY-Frame-Kit-p-1101225.html

It has 8.5mm MMW "Insane" motors, a DSM2 FC, the cheap Eachine metal cased cam combo with the case removed, all banggood stuff I think except the cells. It weighs 45g, 65g with a cell fitted.

The only work was that mine came with wrong posts that had to be cut (they say mine was a one off mistake) and a hole had to be drilled to access the VTX band change button and the camera board PCB milled back a little on one edge to square it up.

Have just bought another frame as a spare!  ;)

  • Did I fly today?.......... Erm, No. :(

Work's sent me on a two day course all the way over to south of London.

I had a look at the area on google maps yesterday and saw that this areas got loads of large interesting looking green bits all over the place, So I chucked a change of clothes and toothbrush in my laptop bag (on top of my laptop), Then loaded up two more backpacks with my pair of 250's, the Q330, my 180, chargers, spare props, and enough Li-po's to jump start a small village.......... Then woke up late (5 o'clock), Rushed out of the house, And left everything but the laptop bag in the hallway. I think the only reason I remembered to grab THAT bag was because I'd propped it against the back of the front door.

So, I'm now bored and on my own in the cheap hotel that work chose (That's between a busy road and a train station) and feeling p1ssed off with myself for screwing up a perfectly good opportunity to have 3 or 4 hours of flying around in a different area. :(

Feck it ! I've got some films on the laptop. I'm going to choose one and watch it in bed.
    Night all.

Doesn't look like i'll be getting much more practice in before the event.

  • And......... I'm back home.
Home to a bedroom that doesn't shake every 30 minutes as trains go past,
Home to a bed that isn't so soft that I wake up with chronic back ache,
And home to where I have undertake that age old game so well know to those who miss big flying opportunities, The great "Re-storage charging ritual".

I'd got 12 packs all juiced up and ready for the trip using my 4 chargers, Unfortunately, I only have one charger that can be used to bring the packs back down to a storage charge. I've got the DIY 2x3S to 6S leads I made a few months back, So I can discharge them 2 at a time, But that's still 6 cycles to do. Something says I'll not be getting them all done tonight. :(
