Had a little test of my new toy this afternoon..... First time I have flown anything with GPS.
It holds its position very accurately, follows me and returns home just like it says on the box !
It flys for 20 mins easily, I got 2 Lipo's so loads of fun.

A whole new experience for me to be able to just flick a switch and it comes back and lands at your feet. Very relaxing not having to frantically twiddle the sticks constantly
I just hope it doesn't try flying back to china.

Watch plenty of youtube video`s and be warned if you fly it fast in attitude it will nose down, if low flight it will crash into ground, i had one but it did not impress me so i ended up selling it on

Yes, I've watched the vids on 'the tumble of death', not good  :cry
Video quality is average, very wobbly but it was quite windy. On zero wind days I can imagine it being quite smooth.... not to gimbal DJI standards though.
I like all the screen info.
Cheap at 197 squid from gearbest, so I hope it's a nice introduction to GPS quads.
I'm fancying a phantom 3 or similar now

I already had the P3 when i got the 501 A so it never came close to the performance of the P3, this may be why i sold it on pretty quick

If your that "up" on the whole Gps and RTH thing you can just buy a Ardupilot fc with GPS for under £30 and slap it on just about anything....... then you have GPS,RTH, MISSION PLANNER, PC CONTROL,... the list go's on.

slap it on a big enough frame and you can dangle whatever the feck you want beneath it while it go's about its business, I still use one on my big H-copter and that'll happily lift a 3-axis gimbal and give me 15mins of flight on a crappy Rhino 3000mah 3, get even more airtime if I let the FC run a 2-axis digital servo gimbal instead of the underslung setup. ~~

Yep, I know what you mean,,,,,, but (a big but) you can't just open the box and fly with ardupilot and similar  . I don't want a build,  and I'm crap with computers
I suppose what I've just bought (cheap and cheerful) and DJI style GPS quads eliminate all the headaches for numptys like me, the sales figures prove this worldwide. Downside is a factory built machine is a hell of a lot inferior to something custom/home built. When you know every blob of solder personally when you finish a build, you know how to repair it and what makes it tick. It is more satisfying building, I've done 180,210,250, 450 size quads all on a medium budget, and I won't lie I've struggled at times
Makes a change with an rtf.

I tried real hard with Ardupilot, i really wanted to get my head around the system but it always beat me, so many hicups just trying to get to a point where it would let me spin the motors........then i tried Naza, way better for me as i found i could do all the set up and get the thing in the air, then things got even better in the form of the P3, i really like AP and the P3 does an amazing job on this, after a while i found the P3 is also great fun to fly, fast and agile
Some people have a knack for getting used to Ardupilot, some like me struggle

It looks like hopefully, to be honest it's worked faultless, and 4 Lipo's through it so far.
Watching lots of videos, and one thing I've noticed on RTH mine flys nose in on the return back ? On lots of reviews the quad gains some altitude, turns with camera facing away, then returns.
I wonder if this is with older firmware models.
