purchase recommendation thread
« on: April 20, 2017, 13:55:06 »
not seeing a purchase recomendation thread about so Ill start this one and feel free to chuck up your own recomendations if ya want.

heres one of mine that just arrived....

IPRee 30L Outdoor Tactical Backpack Rucksack...
http://www.banggood.com/30L-Outdoor-Camo-Backpack-Rucksack-Camping-Hiking-Trekking-Shoulder-Bag-Pack-p-87544.html?rmmds=myorder

"not really very multirotor related?" I hear you say!....

well tbf you'd be right, that is till you consider just how ideal a size it is for...

absolutely heaps of room in it, lots of seperate compartments and handy waterproof pockets of various and usable sizes and as you can see it easily accomodates a standard non-folding 250 sized quad, a TH9x, a chunky set of box type goggs, plenty of spare batteries and even my win10 pad for infield tuning all without filling it to burst point or it being HUGE and bulky.

their designed for use by Airsoft fanatics in mind and they can be quite a demanding bunch when it comes to how authentic like their toys..... sorry "equipment" is so these seem to be as close to the military gear tech as possible for a over the counter bit of kit.

everything seems good on it, zippers seem rugged, everythings got additional strap latches just incase and all the zip-up pockets are interior lined just incase your caught in one of them annoying downpours.

lots of smaller pockets for any extra cables and the like while the outside is pretty much coated in clip loops and hook on points for carabiners or key chain like snap clips, add in it has all the body point securing youd need (adjustable comfy arm straps, padded back, chest and waist straps) and your ready to grab and leg it down the field at a moments notice.

me is liking it so far ~~

ps.... comes in a dozen multination camo patterns......and black if your not that keen

Ah one of those.

I got one from Ebay a few months ago.

It's taken some abuse, but is now starting to fall apart.

Seams are going, zips failing, zippers breaking. Not surprised at the price but still a pain.

Needs some patching up but may just bin it and try something else.

I have one of those get loads in it, only complaint strap hurt shoulders after a hour or so.

I moved the padding all the way up on the strapping and that sorted it out. ~~

missus looked at it and actually voiced her approval.....then asked if they did the same pattern in a purple or red...... Ive never wanted to chin my missus before now. :hmm:

new recommendation from me:

dont know if anyones giving these a go but

The new Multistar racer series (gold spec).

bought:-
2x 1400mah 4s 65c

and

2x 1400mah 3s 65c

wasnt expecting much as I consider them to be a "budget battery" even with a well known name like Multistar.

pleasant surprise to find they have cracking punch-out voltage, good strong steady voltage levels, lower than average weight and size for similar mah sized lipo's and even matched my newish 1800mah zops for flight time.

both cells sizes have some nice physical features too (along with the compact size and weight I mentioned) the 4s leads exit out the pack at the centre which makes things a bit neater on my frames while the 3s has a level indicator built into the top of the lipo itself meaning I can give it a quick check before use to make sure Im not slotting in a un-charged battery.

their all on charge right now (third time today ) so Ill get some exact sizes and weights later.

bought from HK:
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/multistar-racer-series-1400mah-4s-65c-multi-rotor-lipo-pack-gold-spec.html
£17.26

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/multistar-1400mah-3s-65c-with-led-indicator.html
£10.73

teranis is almost exactly the same size as my th9x so should be fine as my tx fits in it without being squished ~~

Thanks shawdreamer, the case for the taranis is quite a bit bigger than the taranis.Im looking for a bag to fit the case for the taranis into also and not just the transmitter on its own as it will be on my back whilst im on a bike over rough terrain.

youll probably need a good sized rucksack type then, that backpack is as small as it can be while still accomodating a 250 frame, tx and the essentials.

This is my backpack recommendation. More expensive than some offerings but good quality. Plenty of room for googles, radio, tools props and lipos. And you can strap 2 quads on comfortably.
http://m.gooutdoors.co.uk/ZoomProductImages.aspx?ProductId=402065&ProductImageId=55844

The other thing I've been struggling to get (for about 3 years now!) is a well priced power supply. Finally found one;
http://www.rcpitstop.co.uk/fusion-200w-138v-power-supply-ps201-6563-p.asp
It's rated to 200W so will charge your 4S at 10A. Given the price of these things on HK I'd say it's a bargain.

Oh and if you need a peli case for your quad (saves it getting a beating in the car) then here's a much cheaper alternative. If you remove all the foam in the centre you can stack 2 quads in with enough foam round the edge to secure and protect them.

Ive praised the CC3d V2 quite alot lately and Ive not been to shy about buying more.... theres three of them here now (two in frames one waiting to go into my newest frame design)

Ive always liked my CC3d's, theyve never really let me down, I had Naze's spontaneously die in midair and APM's/Pixhwks develop sudden bouts of teanage like hissy fits but Ive never had an issue with a cc3d (let alone killed one)

Banggood are already doing the CC3d V2 (where I get mine) and Im loving the all new integrated 5v & 12v becs and the fact it'll take a direct feed from anything between 2s and 6s Lipo, the only downside seemed to be the fact that they only had 4 signal points so were only really usable for quads (I dont mind myself as Im a purist four rotor fan) but I just noted the one that turned up yesterday is slightl different than my first two.... something banggood didnt mention.

two new signal points, CC3d updated the V2 board to make it Hex capable and no one seemed to notice

Anyway, the CC3d v2 is my new recommendation for those that want a good solid, reliable FC with all the standard cc3d capabilities and the benefits and cleanliness of the integrated Becs and power options.

just before anyone ask though, yes it does have connection on the board for VTX and CAM which by logical terms would suggest the possible presence of a OSD but I havnt been able to find info that confirms or refutes it and as Ive been using AIO cams I havnt used the board connections so cant say either way myself.
