That woke me up with a jolt!!!  It seems I've got so used to seeing my camera hex perched up on the set of draws in the corner of my bedroom that the area now looks strangely empty without it (I took it apart on Sunday to begin the rebuild into its new Y6 frame)...... And now I'm wide awake at bloody half one in the morning....... And feeling like a paranoid pillock. :(

SCX200 Redback build
« on: September 13, 2017, 15:02:58 »
Hi Guys
i';m gathering bits for my own build & was curious about whether or noth there was a plain carbon plate you could use in place of the kit PDB?
i have a choise of 2 FC';s here in waiting, the Matek & an Omnibus but they are both all in ones & have their own power distribution tabs already.
for some reason i seem to think i';ve seen a plate for just that somewhere but can';t seem to find it again despite numerous searches

i dare say most of the stuff i';m getting together will be incompatible anyway  :hmm: :whistling:

anyone ordered from these guys? is it worth ordering such a small part from overseas? any idea on delivery time?
would i be better off using the Armattan PDB & using a different FC? and any suggestions if that would be the best route to take?
i already have 2 new AIO FC';s here among my growing collection of little silver bags.  :whistling:
the 2 i have to choose from are the Matek FC F405 - AIO or the Omnibus F4 Pro corner..
i';d like to try one of the all-in-ones  :hmm:

Armattan are very reputable, they make their own brand frames like he chameleon, which they warranty and no one I am aware of has had issues as well as frames for others.
There are dodgy overseas manufacturers but I don';t think anyone would cast aspersions on armattan
You may struggle to fit the pro corner into an scx, I usually use the pdb on the scx and then seperate flight controllers and escs, you can see my scx builds in this section

in keeping with the Red theme i';ve chosen one of these https://www.quadcopters.co.uk/fpv-racing-drone-flight-controllers/raceflight-revolt-f4-flight-controller-3322

hopefully thats a reasonable choice..  :crossfingers:

Oh lord
It is fine, it will work and you will find it easy to set up but can be the devils own backside to tune on unusual rigs
There is a whole history including hissy fits, trolling, arguements and toys exiting prams between raceflight and the cleanflight/betaflight teams
You can flash the board with bf but that seems to come with its own set of unique and interesting problems,
Would suggest use raceflight one, should be ok

sounds like i may be opening a can of worms with this one then  :whistling:
i had a look through the detailed build pdf for the Kinetic Air ro & i was like  :blink :blink  :blink when i saw the FC setup section

another daft question, am i going to have to buy a windows based machine to do flash updates etc
i';m pretty much exclusively apple at home now...

A couple of years ago the answer would definitely be a yes, but nowadays it';s ok. I run mac and you';ll be fine with it; the main things you need are the bf configurator, blheli configurator and blackbox viewer. Fortunately they are all available as apps for google chrome.

The only thing I';ve found you need windows for is if you really are getting into developer stuff, which fortunately I';m not!

Having said that, I was trying to reflash my goggles with some different firmware and hit a stumbling block finding a hex uploader for mac.

I don';t use Mac but people do and manage, although I couldn';t gaurentee they don';t use emulators

Setting up an fc is always like that, if anything that one is less complicated than most, but I did it step by step.

However I would suggest with the revolt flight controller you use raceflight one, not betaflight. There is a really good setup wizard that takes you through it step by step
