Almost finished , the Runcam Micro swift is very nice, but with the bolt on T/X 25 dosen';t fit the mount so the 3d printer is going to have to do some work also i need an antenna mount. Had a test hover and  it';s going to be a beast the motors are evil :evil
I had a slight problem with the receiver/brain  Spektrum sats with dsmx are set to 2048 not 1024, and no amount of shouting will make it work with the wrong setting... :embarrassed :embarrassed :embarrassed Sometimes a problem is staring you in the face and you just dont see it.. ::)

Don';t wanna worry you mate but looks like it is leaking oil :)

Are you using the micro mount?
I used he mini mount - and I cut the bar across the back off so it became two seperate parts that slide over the standoffs and have tabs to connect the cam to, worked really well and keeps weight down, you can also adjust the height of the cam on the standoff to get less prop in the view

The width of the mount is ok it';s the back clearance that is the problem. It needs to move forward by about 20mm.
It';s no biggie, with a combination of 3d print and the milling m/c i might even do a neat job.. :whistling:
Further testing on 3cells,i held the beast by the batt and gave it full beans!! :o :o :o I now have another use for the word f**k.. Don';t know what 4cell is going to be like.
Anyway impatients got the better of me so i nipped up the field, and found out what uncontrolled airmode can do.
The beast vanishes at about 200 feet,  it';s faster than any plank i have flown, or seen (and a great planes Rifle is insane). When it returned to earth i crawled back to the burrow,  :embarrassed

lol yeah you are using full sized FC arent you? fits with loads of room with a mini :)

4s certainly has more beans noticeable in flight than 3s on that quad

had quite a few of the parts for my build turn up yesterday.

Wow how small are those motors  :o
hard to imagine how fast its gonna be as they look tiny compared to the motors on my 5 inchers

and that electronics stack, everything there & under 9 grams! its mental!

however after reading the comments on here about how fast they are it is exciting  :wack0

i think i';m gonna buy a decent soldering station or at least an iron with a nice small tip. i found my old Antex 100w chisel tip the other day & there';s no way i';m going to budgeon it with that lo

The hglrc stack is interesting when it comes to soldering, it looks intimidating because it is small.
BUT because it is small it is easy to solder in that it doesn';t drag heat away from the pads, they solder quickly.

Aside from the lipo pads, I made sure I tinned the pads and wires well, getting the two to solder together is easy.

The lipo pads - I put in the guide but basically I threaded some spare wire through the holes on the lipo pads, cut it off and wound the two ends together and soldered it in place, this increases the area you are soldering the lipo wires to and makes life considerably easier

Kept it simple just doing squares, circles, and wobbly figure eights, and a couple of warp drive vertical full mambos.
I had to have a cup of Horlics as a sedative on return, the thing realy is a beast... :evil

Lol, it flies well on 3 cell, but it does have another gear if you decide you want it :)
Your welcome, I tried to avoid going all "UAVFutures" but it flies so damn well, I deliberately did back to back for quite a few lipos with good 5 inch racers, on both occasions the difference is really dramatic, I have also let other pilots fly it and they were equally impressed.
That coupled with the fact it is below 250gram, hope you all contributed to the EASA consultation, today is the last day, can';t help but recomend it to people

I will go 4cell but not at my local field its too small (and i';m  wimping) and the farmer has just drilled it so i don';t want to pi$$ him off by stomping over the crop, also it';s a bit of a swamp atm.
Mine weighs in at 260 grm with the Swiftmicroand 25 intigrated t/x this will drop sub 250 when i take the xt60 adaptor off ,  waiting for postie to deliver connectors atm.. One hell of a a/c love it.. :beer2:

Mine is 250/251g (depends which lipo) with turnigy nanotech 4s 859mah, about 235g with 650g 4s tattu, 237 grams with tattu 3s 850mah. Heavy lipo?

Quick question
When building do you use the little soft motor mounts that come in the kit?

I have, they are probably not necessary, F20ii are miles smoother/less notch than rotorgeeks, brother or Armattan 1407, but it doesn';t hurt.

If you do use them make sure you use blue threadlock on the motor mount screws and mine are tightened pretty tight

Found a use this quad isn';t brilliant for! Out flying this morning when I bumped into a mate from the rugby club, he was looking for a new calf which someone had told him had been born. Ideal job for a ridealong right?
No, too fast ...
Neeeooowwmmm!
Was that a calf?
Hang on I will go back!
(No it was a dog)
- genuine conversation! :)

At last.... :sweating: got the camera and vtx sorted, talk about a pain in the scrote.  Now all i need is a field with some decent cow flop in to give it a real test, I might even go four cell..

Very tempted to build another so i can test the higher rpm  motors.. :embarrassed

The higher rpm motors are not faster then the f20s mate, I think that is cos 5e f20s are 1408 and the others are 1407, taller stator = more torque, can get closer to unloaded kv under load

Some more thoughts.
These have pretty much broken 5 inch quads for me, the air ro is just better.
It has survived some nasty crashes, at the Oxford meet it caught the same branches as my GoPro quad di and spun off, although soft ground
Today I got a q x7s and bound it, getting used to the stick feel I flew straight into a tree trunk at a decent speed, stopped dead and rebounded 20 ft or so backwards, I walked over expecting a broken frame - that would be what I would anticipate with a 5inch. But no, I mean the props have seen better days although still flyable, no damage to the quad

Tryingto had a fly on it at Oxford too

I';m loving the frame, no join at the weakest point ,light,  and at a very good price compared with similar ones.
As the other motors won';t be any better and I';m impressed with the T-Motor the excuse will have to be I want to try the different flight stack..

Hi all,

Do you think a Matek f405 and hubvtx would fit in the frame with a 4in1 esc?

I really fancy one of these frames but I'm concerned my soldering won't be up to using a small combo like the Hlrrc one that you recommend...

In short - yes’m the frame fits full sized boards, the fc and hub won’t be a problem.
4 in 1 escs - a little more dubious, they tend to protrude more than other boards, but most will be fine.
The only potential issue is stack height, which is easily solved by using longer standoffs

Ps, unless you have a big chisel tip on your iron soldering the hgl stack is actually quite easy. Although the pads are small, the board is also small, heat doesn’t get wicked away from the pads anything like as quick as it does in a full sized board.

The easy trick is - heat the pad for a few seconds, apply the solder and make sure it is decently tinned, tin the wire well, touch the two together and add he iron, they two will solder almost instantly, easier than on a full sized board. Add to that the fact the connections between the fc and escs are pin based and don’t need soldering and you don’t have much to do really
(I recently built a 5 inch quad with a sunrise Siskin f4 blheli32 aio which would fit this I think, but it is a full sized board with pads the same size or smaller than the hglrc stack, that is miles more of a soldering challenge than the hglrc stack)
