  • About to join the ranks but not too sure where to begin,

Not interested in cloud chasing, more of a flavour type thing.

    Any suggestions welcome.

  • just grab a simple starter kit for your first one, see how you get on with it before going for a proper tank and battery mod setup.

as for flavourings, personally I never buy the ready mixed stuff, Ive always made my own mix's, you can cater to your own preference in strength, nicotine level, smoke sensation and flavouring that way.

that'll soon be scarpered though as the government are putting stoppers on the sale of nicotine solution, tax grabbing c*nts, first they whinge about people smoking to much and having to spend too much money on the nhs to counter it, then as soon as people discover a safer, healthier, cheaper alternative and stop buying fags which have huge taxs attached to them the government immediately cacks its pants and go's after the alternative.

  • I ended up buying the Cool Fire IV kit, with Zombie Juice strawberry PG.

Its adjustable so I can find the sweet spot with strength, so far its been good to use.
The only downside is the built in battery, however that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

My local vape shop was really helpful in explaining what was what, although there's three shops in this area, all fairly close to each other, so it was a case of visit each one and decide from there.

battery mods can usually be taken apart quite easy and the batteries aernt placed under high stress usage so last a fair while anyway before you start noting a loss in charge retention.

you can usually swap em out in under half an hour with a little bit of soldering.

    Hey DB,

I have a Cool Fire IV as a backup and it's a pretty good unit to start with. Yes the battery is inbuilt but it a great starter and by the battery starts to give up (about a year from now) you would have probably upgraded.

I became a fully time vaper/ist this time last year and i now have 3 units. ::)

  • I've been vapeing for over 5 years now, sold off my collection of mods. Mix my own juice mainly caremel flavours, pg base liquid gives me the craps so mainly on vg now. I just ended up using a Megalodon with a Spheroid on top, easy to make coils and it don't leak. Been using the same one for over 3 years.

I loved my eleaf Istick for the sub ohm

tried it outside in winter once..... looked like a steam train had blown up ~~

  • Been vaping for well over three and a half years now. I've always been surprised by how easy it was for me to go from cigs to vaping. They say that you NEED to want to quit to stop...... I didn't !!

Several months after that whole government rethink about where you can smoke came in, work caught me smoking in my company van and told me to stop it. I pointed out that as there's never any passengers in the van, Plus, I'm the only person who drives this one, The "Public space" rule didn't apply. They pointed out that the van was company property and they can choose to make any damn rules they wanted, And if I sparked up in it again I was out (I hate it when an employer pulls that "I'm the boss" trump card, It doesn't feel like they're playing the game properly. :) ).

So, I only started vaping as a way to get around their draconian no smoking rule, But I found that I actually enjoyed it more than cigs.

In the start I decided to spend ALL the money I'd have wasted in cigs to get vaping related stuff. I was constantly waiting for postie to arrive with my new toys from America, Germany, Italy or Hong Kong, But after about 9 months of this (And somewhere around the low £3k mark) I found there wasn't any new attys, Mods, Wick, Wire or DIY juice supplies I wanted or needed to get.

Today, If I was still smoking, My 30 a day habit would have still cost me a little under £10k more than all the vaping related stuff I've bought (Which incidentally has a significantly higher resale value than the bucket loads of ash and dog ends I'd only have to show for it if I hadn't quit. :) ), But for that money, I've got a fair bit of genuine kit (Plus a bucket load of FastTech clone stuff), About 6 litres of 72mg nic stashed in the freezer (A little insurance in case the TPD doesn't get overturned) and enough concentrates on ice to start a small shop.......But surprisingly these days I can't be bothered with all the faff. I've reverted to pretty much only vaping my 11mg DIY menthol mix, Using an eVic mini and a b4stard rebuildable atty I put together using bit's of Kayfun 4, Kayfun Mini V3 Plus (A wider tanked clone version of a KFM v3) and the glass from a Kanger subtank. It gives me the draw I want and enough juice capasity so that I don't need to refill it during the day.

I've near as damn it gone full circle and strangely found that a semi starter kit suits my style of vaping best.

  • Gave up smoking on the first of january 2016.Went full circle with the vaping, started with mini nautilius...then on to crown then on to drippers and rda's and the like,January 1st this year I gathered up all my sub ohn tanks, drippers, rda's and boxed them up and put them into storage.Ive now got a tank on hand with 12 mg nic incase I feel like falling off the wagon.I was a 50 a day b&h gold smoker for over 20 yrs....the 50 a day habit was going on for at least 3 years. It doesnt take a genius to figure out how much I was spending on cigs.I was buying from high street so paying full price.Spent roughly 2 grand on vaping from jan to oct last year with enough nic in the freezer for the next 10 yrs.Total saved to date is just shy of 10 grand.Thats a nice bit of "disposable" money that would have otherwise helped contribute to the inevitable..Vaping changed my life,Vaping has helped save my life.

  • Just bought a Geekvape Griffin 25 RTA and all the necessary kit to make my own coils, should be fun and easier to clean/maintain. ~~

  • ive been vaping for omg about 7 years now! haven't touched an analogue for that time though so all good. I'm not very good at vaping still, I cant do massive clouds without passing out or coughing my lungs out. I use a smok alien with the little baby tank and make my own juice for it. out of interest what nic% are you guys at? I'm down to about 3% I think. I use about 5ml of 72% in a 100ml mix. I read that you get bugger all nicotine in your blood with these things anyway so higher % don't mean higher nic in your blood, just more expensive clouds!

  • I switched to vaping but my neck or glands swelled up every vape ...
After a couple of weeks went back to cigarettes but couldn't stand them .
So quit altogether ... there's something not right with vaping ...IMHO

  • #206 by trebor on 16 Feb 2017
  • Propylene glycol or Veg glycerine, I think they use pg in hospital vaporisers for various lung conditions.
  • #207 by nub on 17 Feb 2017
  • they also use it in Anti-freeze ;)
