That woke me up with a jolt!!!  It seems I've got so used to seeing my camera hex perched up on the set of draws in the corner of my bedroom that the area now looks strangely empty without it (I took it apart on Sunday to begin the rebuild into its new Y6 frame)...... And now I'm wide awake at bloody half one in the morning....... And feeling like a paranoid pillock. :(

Bunnygirl: Best software for CC3D FPV Flight Controller
« on: February 16, 2017, 19:49:42 »
Hi guys,

I';ve not kept up with the FPV FC changes for quite some time and was wondering if any of you could advice me. I';m in the process of setting up three FPV racers and was wondering which software is best for a CC3D board.

Simple

Betaflight

For racing and acro nowt better for the CC3D.

Just shout if you need help. I still use them even though they are getting a bit old and outdated.

There are some limitations that may catch you out.

personally I tend to stick with librepilot when handling cc3ds, it just does the job its meant too and does it well.

Whats happened to OpenPilot and CleanFlight?

As with a lot of open projects the devs disagree on something or want to go different ways and it forks.

Cleanflight is still ticking over but not a huge amount of development going on.

Where as Betaflight well it';s hard to keep up with the changes.

If you are racing then the flight characteristics of betaflight are at the top.

Is this the link for LibrePilot

http://www.librepilot.org/site/index.html

I';m building these racers for a commercial we';re working on. The guys flying them have never flown before and having one day simulator training, one day training in a field and then a small simple race.

Stef

If you can get betaflight on the boards, it will be a significant improvement to the flight characteristics and a lot more stable than librapilot

Kind Regards
Phil

is this one of the early f1 cc3d or f3?

Openpilot stopped supporting the board about 18 months ago. A bunch of their devs didn';t like this decision and started librepilot, it seems to be ok but nit a particularly big uptake

Other openpilot devs started dronin, but not sure that supports cc3d, they were looking at more modern boards

Cleanflight will work fine, its development isn';t ultra fast and it doesn';t perform as well as modern racers

Betaflight would be the number 1 most popular and best, although I suspect features like dshot are not much use to you if your escs are not blheli_s and I it is an f1 board then you may struggle with loop times
But on the whole agree with Phil

I';ve not done any FPV racing for over a year, so got in touch with Phil (MakeItBuildIt.co.uk) and he';s been kind enough to bring me up to speed with things. I';m building two drones for a commercial we';re filming on Friday. We';re building the 250 Nighthawk, CC3D, DYS SN16A MINI 16A ESC BLHELI with Taranis X8R (PWM).

Holy crap, that is all about 2 years old and god knows this hobby moves fast.

Having re read your stuff...
Bf would be best BUT if you intention is just to get the guy in the air and he is gonna be flying angle/horizon mode, I would recomend CF, BF is targeted for racing or freestyle, it rarely if ever tests self level modes. Cf on the other hand is tested up the wazoo
