  • Reman: After finding that about half my stored Turnigy packs have started puffing to one extent or another, I decided to get something different. Just ordered some 1500mah 3s XF Power li-po's to give a try. Cant be any worse than having 2 flights, Storage charging them and digging them out to find them puffed. :(

Any 3dr Solo users here?
« on: February 15, 2017, 18:46:22 »
After 3dr dumped the price of the solo I managed to acquire one courtesy of a friend, and a friendly sea shipping company.

I havent had a chance to fly it yet, but it is very slick, sets up well and looks like a good platform.

While its a shame 3dr have bowed out of "consumer" drones, its good for me as I could never afford one at the previous Approx £1000 (incl gimbal) price tag, but at $350, it was a no brainer! I also managed to get a spare gimbal and battery for $35 each (they havent arrived yet!).

Currently reading the manual, figuring out Smartshots (stick reassignment during a smart shot is tough to get my head round!) and looking forward to getting it in the air. Debating on whether to shell out for the Android Solex app

Does anyone else here fly one?

I believe there is an upgrade avaliable for them now.  It allows you to straight swap the flight controller for the new pixhawk2

The flight controller in the solo is the pixhawk 2.

http://www.proficnc.com/3dr-solo-accessories/79-the-cube.html

That has a giant section of text saying: Only with dev branch Arducopter EXPERIMENTAL

I think he may want to leave that upgrade alone for now.

I saw the green cubes, I think any modding like that will have to wait until I am ready/forced to transplant the guts into another chassis. its a novelty having a copter i havent had to build!
