  • VaNDAL_UK: atomiclama: I was pricing up the cable 0.08 copper wire and SMA connectors came out to about £15 and I could have made 5 meters worth of antennas!

Fixed 180 quad
« on: April 27, 2016, 21:42:11 »
Quite happy today except for the cost,,,,,after a minor incident with my 180 making contact with the ground and dying, I managed to resuscitate it today.
Decided to go for another cc3d fc, many thanks to makeitbuildit for great service  ~~ it took me less than 10 minutes to fully setup through Librepilot, must admit it';s so straight forward to use I';m very impressed.
Then a 5 minutes drive from home to quadcopters.co.uk to look at vtx';s for the fpv.......Decided to try a FX795T mini VTX 25-200 mW 40 channel.....Emax 800 TVL camera, huge thing in a metal case lol hopefully takes hard knocks a bit better ! And a pair of new LH  Immersion antennas,,,,luvly jubbly  ::)
Loads of wires to fit into such a small space but I managed it.
Had a quick fpv test fly and all seems nice with no break up of picture at 100 meters, so not bothered with a power filter luckily.
Lipo charging tonight

Bit of a bird';s nest of wires

Which ESCs you using?

If LittleBees then I';d put a filter on anyway as they have a habit of blowing VTX due to the braking and spikes. Just a bit of extra protection.

Lol that isn';t a metal case mate. It is a heat sink

Been using fx vtx for a while, I like them very much (essentially rebadge it is what lumenier sell and now hobbyking)
I like the led/push button thing

BUT absolutely agree with Atomiclama, although found kiss ESCs and RG 20as were worse than littlebees but active breaking (damping light) produces a power spike, if it gets large it will white out the vtx (with kiss ESCs I have burned out two of them), fix was use a 12v reg (I had it connected directly to the pdb)

I';m using emax 12amp ';s  Simon K.
I was very surprised to have no interference, that';s a first for me.
Didn';t know that about LittleBees  ~~

I';d messed up to start with, soldered camera to 5v points on pdb.....it';s minimum 7v ! .....wondered why I didn';t have a picture, spent almost an hour going through every channel on the vtx , then the fatsharks,,,,looked at the spec and channel info booklet and saw the voltage needed  :embarrassed quick re-solder and all sorted.

No braking on those then, so should be fine.
