It is the DJI spark. Basically a selfie drone for the masses!

Expecting it to be great... if you like taking selfies.  Perfect for the narcissistic Facebook generation.

Talking of DJI the retail availability of the Mavic is hugely improved.  Even the flight pack bundle is becoming more easily available.  For this reason (and others) I'd guess the new Mavic will be launched between this November and next May.  That's what I'm looking forward to (and hoping for noticeably improved camera/gimbal and 3D avoidance tech).

Does look nifty for simple fun flight with very good image capture.  Definitely has a place in the ever expanding market.  Shame it only has front facing 3D sensing and not sidewards too (for safer RTH etc.)  But, as always, that will probably be in the second generation model.

£699 for the 'Fly More Combo' package, which you need if you want the controller that lets you fly the claimed 1.2miles, is still fairly expensive.  That combo pack only includes 1 additional battery too, which is a bit of a con.  It really should have 2.  Still, at least it comes with a carry case - that they also should have included for free with the standard Spark.

It looks good, but it's still overly expensive imho.

Wonder if all the footage was really taken with it! I see it has a 2 axis gimbal so the sideways twitch will be back! And for the UK and Europe a max distance on the controller of 500 metres. The 1. 2 mile range is for the US. Though that's legal there either! Prefer the mavic..

Having slept on it, and got over initial excitement my credit card can relax, the launch said $699 so that should work out to £514 but it appears not, and with the 500m UK restriction its no deal, think i will stick with my P3 and home builds

It does look compact, I like the little carry case,,,, neat !

I think they'll fly off the shelfs

Is it going to be around the 600 quid price with the mavic style TX I wonder.
I'd personally  one.

I am actually very impressed with the product! Watching the reviews thus far and using the hand signals seems to function relatively well. I don't think the price is to outrageous either when you consider just how much tech is actually packed into the little package!

One thing I just cant understand though is just why there aren't any companies trying to make micro size gimbals with integrated camera's. If they existed, it would completely remove my need for anything DJI.

Don't think he cares 'too' much about the faa as his actions are pre-determined and all the love/hate/attention/link-sharing is EXACTLY what he wants.  ;)  He's good at acting dumb. It's how he's made his $$$ millions.

I'm liking the spark more since I first saw it, but a 500m range, the 'apple-style' (overpriced) cost and the lack of better sensor tech and 3 axis gimble (quite a lot of ask, I know) puts me off. Still gonna wait for the mavic 2 before I upgrade I think.
