Nice :) might be better with slightly less aggressive props, particularly with that lipo, (or get a better lipo, would suggest r-line 1300)

Only small thing I would say is your Rx antenna, they are long and will get a beating, the only part of the antenna that matters is the exposed bit at the end, you can leave most of the wire inside the pod, suggest you have about 1cm of the sheath and the exposed wire outside and cut the tubes down to fit that (don't have the exposed wire protruding from the tubes though)

Hello Cheredanine, thanks for the feedback, what prop would you suggest for the build? we have all sorts most recently DAL TJ5045's, DAL 5040 V2's, DAL T5045C 'Cyclone', Azure Power Race/Freestyle's but packets of assorted older Gemfans / HQ props.

Good point on the RX antenna's I think I will cut one of the tubes in half to reduce the length and keep the other tube as a spare.

Just wondering if you have had any dealings with the Mateksys Betaflight F405-OSD flight controller and the FCHUB-6S PDB yet? Looks promising.

Hi mate,
I would be looking for something light in props, hq5x4x3v1s leaps to mind, got a new version today to try out, 5x4.3x3v1s, that is probably about right

Most of the props you have listed are heavy and need a high torque motor, 2206, 2306 or 2207 and high kv to get their best, and they will always hit the lipo,

I would also try butter cutters

My main issue with dal is they produce heavy, "indestructible" props, that makes them slow to change speed (e.g. Accelerate), heavy on the lipo and hard on the motor in a crash
Don't get me wrong, I like t5045 and cyclones, but I wouldn't fly on anything smaller than 2206 and I would prefer to fly so,thing more inclined to break in crashes than effect the balanace of the motor

Not tried the osd hubs, all I want in my osd is the voltage and the cam (swift v2 or arrow v3) will to that so I don't need the extra weight.

Which again brings me back to the lipo, the acehe salesmen will tel, you they perform as well as the standard tattu, but not in the bench tests I have seen

It isn't about the top end, it is about how the voltage saga under load, the speed of the prop is proportionate to the voltage, so the more the voltage sags, the more the speed will drop off. You can reduce the sag by using a prop and motor combo that produces less load (in part why I am suggesting a lighter prop - the voltage will sag less, so the sprop will spin faster, so although on face value it produces less thrust at the same speed, because the voltage doesn't drop as much, it is spinning faster giving more thrust, trick is to find the balance) the other way is a better quality battery (which may also mean you can use a smaller mah and hence have less weight to lug around)

Mostly ATM I am using r-line 1300mah 95c (also available from hobbyrc as their own brand 1400mah I believe), sometimes the 1550mah but quads are tuned for the 1300
I have some turnigy graphene 1300mah 65c left, they are pretty good, but have heard recent batches have tailed off in quality - only anecdotal, also have so,e dronelabs chaos eddition 1500mah which are ok

Hi Cheredanine, thanks for the info, Iv'e got some HQ 5x4x3v1s and Lumenier buttercutters on order, also just got a couple of 1300 65c turnigy graphene's to try hopefully this batch will be OK. Just need the wind to drop up north to do some objective testing. Have you had any dealings with this fight controller yet, if so I would be grateful for any feedback.

Yes mate, was sent one to test this week along with the pdb
It (the combo)doesn't fit most racing quads including scx200, obsession, shrike, tsx200, Tokio and having an xt60 plug soldered directly out the back of the stack isn't good for larger quads (aliens etc) but does fit qav-x

I couldn't get the ribbon connector to work, wouldn't power the fc.

Very unimpressed with combo, but it could just be I got sent a naff one.

The fc its self works ok, or rather mine did for a brief while, then I crashed and it stopped working.  Aside from the crash, which admittedly was a pretty full on one, it ticks a lot of boxes, f4 with sbus inversion (but only one, no smartport), sd card, can run 32khz, no sma conflict, technically should be dshot1200 capable. Bf osd, which is a nice touch

Followed your advice, Graphene's and 5050 Buttercutters fitted and flown, what a difference . Also tried some HQ 5x4x3 V1s, very efficient but prefer the Buttercutters. Took a bit of time to get used to the difference in flight characteristics of the QAV-X with it's reduced weight and under slung battery but it's getting there. Thanks again for the advice.

You are welcome mate, one other prop you may want to try, about the same load as butter cutters, is the gemfan flash 5152, you lose a little too end but increadibly grippy, quad will feel very locked in with them
