  • A few weeks back i started a savings tin, with no purpose in mind, i have been putting only silver and new pound coins in, i now have a purpose for this, i plan to keep at it till this time next year or when its full whatever comes sooner, the plan is to get the Horizon blade Opterra 2 meter wing and fit it out with full FPV and something that might do waypoints, maybe mini APM, this will only happen if my fixed wing flying improves a lot  :embarrassed

  • I do want the Opterra, but its ruddy huge, so that may put me of in the end, if i dont get the big wing i will still save and may end up building a big Hexacopter

I did a calculation to work out what the tin may hold (gives incentive to keep at it) by my thinking it should hold £400 ish so coupled with annual bonus from work i should have a substantial pot for next years big project

Nice but i think it will have sold by time i am ready, plus i still dont know what i am saving for, i want the opterra but its huge and easy to trash, and i fancy the Quanum 690 pro umbrella folding hex, but thats over £200 just for frame kit.
I will just keep stashing money till i am ready, but dont plan on buying any more multirotor?wing stuff this year, more a case of selling what i dont use and putting more into the savings, still need to decide if i am putting my S550 hex back together and use it or just sell it, just needs the new Naza finished putting in, might do that at weekend

  • The cash is mounting up nicely         and still dont have a ruddy clue what i will use it for, found myself thinking a nice used Phantom 4 might be a nice idea (sell the p3s to help fund)
lets have some suggestions as to what i can get

  • OMG  :o
I just poked a ruler down the can to see how high the money level is..................already well over half full

This is starting to look like a Phantom 4 pro next year  :evil

  • Well, the money is still mounting up, i thought i might do a Tarot 680 pro, but been thinking, why do i want that when my S550 gives over 20 mins flying time on one lipo, so going to keep the S550.
I had been toying with a phantom 4, but now i have found stress crack on the p3 i wont be getting another phantom.
I had wanted the blade opterra wing, but i ended up getting a falcon evo 1340 wing kit so i dont see that i will be getting the opterra.
The one plane plane that i think is really super cool is the Durafly Zepher 70 EDF, but how quick would it end up as beanie bag filling in my err capable hands :(
so i am between a rock and a hard place right now

Was that the particular frame you were looking for?

  • Was that the particular frame you were looking for?

WARNING< LONG POST....  TBH not sure what i want :banghead: i figured i would end up with a 680 Tarot, but i do have my doubts as all the related costs rocket, things like Lipo`s, once you get into the larger hex you need big lipo`s like 10,000mah, then it comes down to"do i really need this", the bigger frames are there to carry bigger payloads like small DSLR.

At present i have an S550 that gives best part of 20 mins flight with a 5200 4s got the AQ600 quad and got the P3s, but i am a little bored with the 550, and its getting a bit of a struggle to add more stuff, i would like FPV so i can see what it is filming.
I think also i would like a bit of a flashy multirotor, strong carbon frame nice motors decent camera/gimbal plus fpv and maybe retracts, plus i am lucky that i can chop an change to a degree.
If i can find what i am looking for the AQ600 and the S550 would go, so i would be down to just whatever the new one is and the P3s (BTW the AQ600 has a tiny frame hub and no room for any more kit) hope all this makes sense

  • Okay, i think i might have made a decision, i think i will go with Tarot 650 sport, buy a new frame kit and transfer all the running gear from the AQ600, pretty sure the 700kv motors will run 13" props on 4s, after buying this frame it will leave me money left over to finally get a very good gimbal camera set up and have room to fit all the FPV and maybe osd
