  • Bad Raven: Is the issue Turnigy or Turnigy Nano-Tech? I have found that mid-blue Turnigy tend to be low on their stated "C" discharge rating.

  • ched999uk: RaceDayQuads have some cheap but good batts out now. Josh B tested and stats say very good especially at price. HobbyRC have 1300mAh 4S just under £20. Not had luck with Turnigy lipos either!!

  • Reman: Just realised that I hadn't gone through my stored Li-Po's for about a month. I try to visually check them every Saturday, And prod the plugs with a multimeter about once a month. Todays seen 12 more bulging packs go out to the incinerator..... All but one was a bloody Turnigy! Part of me wan't to burn the rest now and just get a load more Tattu packs, But I've spent good money on these packs and wan't to at least get a little more use out of them. :(

  • Bad Raven: Pre MR's I used to buy a lot from J.Perkins. Their website showed all items and stock or due date, go to dealer and buy with confidence. Then they went all "lifestyle" and all the site had were pictures or people. I wasn't after people. I never bought again. Yes, you'd think they'd learn...........

  • ched999uk: Reman sounds like amazon search. I find it ok unitil you want to search by price then amazon falls apart.... You would think both companies would get it right...

  • Reman: It's strange. The original setup they had about 5 or 6 years back wasn't too bad (Except for them occasionally getting accounts hacked), But they changed it to the last one that was clunky and slow, Now they've replaced that with a flashier one that's also clunky and slow ?!?!?! Most companies learn from what they do wrong. I don't buy from HK half as much as I used to, Mainly because it takes forever to trawl through 100 pages of totally unrelated stuff while looking for something you were thinking about getting when you saw it there the previous week !!!

  • hoverfly: I don't think there is a search button on H/King. They updated the site and forgot to  relabel the search button with  Random bo##ocks..

  • Bad Raven: Agree - The Search is abysmal!!
    July 15, 2018, 08:40:52
  • Reman: I see HobbyKing's revamped their site again...... Shame they haven't made the search function work any better, Or worked out why the whole site goes slower than a pensioner in a Nissan Micra. :)

  • Reman: How thick is Google? You buy something online, Then for the next week you get targeted adds for the item you've just got?!?! That's the one item you're NOT going to be buying again at that point so it's wasted effort of there part. :)

New build
« on: August 11, 2017, 14:10:06 »
Hi,

I am new here and so far I been flying tiny whoop. Now I want to build my first 250 and so I would like to hear your opinion on this build:

Lumenier QAV-R FPV Racing Quadcopter Frame (5" Arms)

DYS F4 Pro Flight Controller With OSD

DYS XSD 30A V2 BLHeli_S Multirotor 3-6S ESC

Lumenier RX2206-11 2350Kv Brushless Motor (2-4S)

FrSky X4R-SB EU LBT 3/16CH Receiver with SBUS, CPPM and Telemetry

Runcam Swift Rotor Riot Special Edition CCD 600TVL Camera

TBS Triumph 5.8GHz Antenna RHCP (SMA) (2 Pack)

Now not sure if to take:

http://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/tbs-unify-pro-5g8-hv-58ghz-mini-fpv-transmitter-race-sma

or

http://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/immersionrc-tramp-hv-58ghz-video-transmitter-sma

what mW would you recommend for free style? and if I want to race in a future isn';t it better to have 25/200mW?

HQProp 5x4x3 Glass Fibre Composite Tri-Blade Propellers (2x CW + 2x CCW)

HobbyRC Race Spec 1400mAh 4S 95C-190C LiPo Battery

So far I have FrSKY Taranis and Fatshark Dominator V3 with Fat Shark 5.8Ghz 32ch Race Band Receiver

Thanks for all suggestions

Hi,

Hi, ok assuming this is for acro/freestyle
Let';s poke it about a bit
Quote
Lumenier QAV-R FPV Racing Quadcopter Frame (5" Arms)
Good solid frame, lumenier are always a little pricey.
No real issues with it though other than price, I would probably suggest you consider a qav210 charpu edition, blindingly good box frame
Quote
DYS F4 Pro Flight Controller With OSD

Reasonable, not overly happy about combined fc/osd and pdb boards, but a reasonable choice
Quote
DYS XSD 30A V2 BLHeli_S Multirotor 3-6S ESC
Way overkill
If you are going with blheli_s get spedix es25, cheaper and as good or better
Consider blheli_32 as it is the next generation
Littlebee summer escs
Wraith32
Both good examples
Quote
Lumenier RX2206-11 2350Kv Brushless Motor (2-4S)
Hmm ledgendry acro motors, however most lumenier I have had recently have some verticle play, it is with tolerance but it is enough to make prop wash a nightmare to tune out

Recomend you consider either
Brother hobby returner r4 2206
Or
T-motor f40 pro
Both better motors
Quote
FrSky X4R-SB EU LBT 3/16CH Receiver with SBUS, CPPM and Telemetry
Nowerdays I use xm+, smaller lighter and cheaper but if you want telemetry in the radio use an xsr
Quote
Runcam Swift Rotor Riot Special Edition CCD 600TVL Camera
Honestly? It is a hs1177 with a gopro 2 lense in it
Up to you though

Both have their followers, me I use the tbs on all my builds, but doesn';t make much difference one way or another

Legally in the uk you have to use 25mw

HQProp 5x4x3 Glass Fibre Composite Tri-Blade Propellers (2x CW + 2x CCW)
Cool although I would consider the 5x4.3x3, throttle curve is more linear, or gemfan flash for absolutely locked in
