what size rucksack
« on: April 23, 2018, 10:47:10 »
what is everyone using to carry their gear?

was having a look at camping rucksacks online
need something to carry the following:
radio in the frsky eva case
goggles in a fatshark case
some basic tools (box is the size of a goggle case)
batterys and props
2 5" quads on the outside
small flask and my lunch (could go in a separate bag)

About 25-30 litre + mate, main problem is the radio.
I carry my case by the handle otherwise 25 litre carries tin with lipos, 3 fatshark cases, small boxes of tools and spare, about a bazillion props

These are good.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014CKW0BA/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Quite a few people are using them.  It has a hard-ish case that protects the contents. It's well made unlike the  cheap Chinese sh$te. I strap the hex to the outside with a bungee cord, can fit radio fpv gear tools and a stack of lipos on the inside, well I just chuck them in. Need to fix some extra straps on the outside for a tripod and other stuff but not got round to that yet

I've got this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Backpack-Rucksack-Resistant-Climbing-Mountaineering/dp/B0799N2SVJ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1524486117&sr=8-6&keywords=40l+rucksack

I can fit:

1 x Taranis X9D SE case + LiPo bag (with 10 packs) + Fatshark case in the main pocket

1 x small tool kit in the front pocket + spare propellers.

2 x quads on the front

1 x Gorilla pod in one of the side pockets

1 x landing pad in the main pocket

thanks guys
as each component already has a protective case i don't need the bag itself to be a hardcase bag
the 2nd one seems good and cheap enough
think i'll stick to black though

Don't go for the black & red one unless you really like bright red .... I have it and wish I'd gone for something a little more subtle ... but I can't justify getting a new rucksack just because of the colours ...

Actually I've got this one, not the original link I sent - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mountaintop-Hiking-Backpack-School-Rucksack/dp/B01F8J5GLA/ref=sr_1_46?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1524491697&sr=1-46&keywords=35l%2Brucksack&th=1

It looks very similar to the first link I sent, but didn't want you to purchase something that I can't comment on actually having used myself. Sorry for the mix-up.

You could try a black sharpie permanent marker on the red bits  ::)

From what I’ve seen everyone’s flight bags are a variation of a common theme; a 25ish litre pack with a few pockets and a bit of webbing! I prefer to use separate bags inside for tools rather than stuff them in pockets so I can easily take them all out if I need to. I carry lipos inside in a lipo bag and use a velcro strap on the outside to attach quads to it. Props go in the outermost pocket with a tool for easy access.

Also get a rain cover if it doesn’t come with one as it helps to keep the quads incognito if needed!

I have one of these on it's way https://hobbyking.com/en_us/universal-case-black.html?mode=list

I am hoping that it will fit my tx (FlySky i6), goggles, (ev100), lipos, spare props and a few emergency tools with quad strapped on outside.

It's only £10 + HobbyKing global shipping and a long wait.

It's not a haversack but it should do me as my flying site is only 5mins away from home.
