Ay 'up everyone

I think I may have done a bad thing. Not the buying of a Bebop and Skycontroller from my local cash convertor, but the buying and not telling the Mrs. As the saying goes, "it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for what you want" or something along those lines.

Bought for £200, it has been well looked after with 4 batteries, lots of props and a Lowpro Drone Guard CS300 backpack. I have always wanted one purely for just taking photos from a different angle. Just a pity the Skycontroller doesn't go into the Lowpro.

Anyone got a bebop and any tips besides sell it on to the next mug lol

OK, I have managed to get it in the air (well, a few feet) and it seems to sway. I have calibrated it but it isnt as stable as some of the videos I have seen on YT.

Heres a quick vid. Is all ok?

Yep GPS.
I am off to North Wales for the weekend so I might give it a blast along the beach and see

Edit: Perhaps a flat trim may cure it??

OK there is a problem with the GPS.

As pointed out by Bajadre, Has it got GPS? Well, being new to parrot and smart phone layout, it shows two GPS images. One is the phone and the other the drone. My phone shows me outside my house, but when I check the GPS of the drone, it is just flying in the South Atlantic just of the coast of Nigeria!!!

So I have Youtubed for help, twisted the wire, cleaned GPS but nothing. Flys but not going to risk a full high flight..

Any suggestions or is it a new GPS module?

I used to get that result when i was setting up A.P.M.  f/c . I was told its a datum point used by some gps systems., as the module picked up more sats  the point on the map would slowly creep back to U.K. until it was on target.
I would check all of the g.p.s. units wiring .. :hmm:

Don't press rth until it has a full lock otherwise it'll be off to the Falklands.

I have a few options.
1. Sit in a field with a fresh battery and a picnic and wait the few hours it can take to gain a signal
2. Go back to cash converters and say a) Money back please b) partial refund and request it be sold as spares or repair

GPS must be working as another forum says that if the camera still works then it isnt the gps!

If it was cheap enough try sitting out and see if it fixes it's self. If that fails go back to shop.

It could cause an issue if loses tx signal and decides to Return to Take off position (somewhere in the South Atlantic)!!

surely if you turn gps off though it wont know where it took off would it? as it wouldn't be using sats for positions etc that's the way the blade gps worked ie no return to home etc unless its different on these bebop things/

If it has been sat in a shop for a while and not seen any satellites for a long time the GPS will be needing a 'cold start'.  I would check the manual to see if there is a procedure associated with the first flight out of the box.  Often with these things they need to be left for a number of minutes before the first flight to work out where they are, until they do this they assume they are at 0,0,0' lat and long.  Once you have done this once the gps will remember 'roughly' where it is in the world and sync up much sooner.  So I would recommend having a look in the manual.

If this doesn't sort it you may have a hardware issue.
