Battery for FPV Googles
« on: January 09, 2018, 16:16:54 »
Starting to look at my first pair of FPV Googles for casual flying.. maybe a used FatShark V3 or Banggood are doing discount on Aomway Cmd.. Just looking at the suggestions for power supply? I could use one of my five 4s Lipos I have, 850 14.8V if that isn't too OTT? or has anyone had experience with the Fatshark 18650 cell unit?

My flying time is limited.. I'm still new to the game.. a couple of hours I can get during the freezing weather..

Still flying a vortex pro 150 - pending a fix to an ESC

Thanks

Check the power requirements for each specific unit, as some are max 2S voltage, some 3S, etc.

always used the standard 1000mah 2cell with fatsharks good couple of hours of fpving think only once it ran out as I didn't recharge it  :slap:

fatshark also do a 1800mah one and am sure hobbyking sell a 1500mah with the right connectors etc.

found as long as you remember to shut them off when not flying or watching others through them you should get a full day even on the stock lipo  ~~

I use this battery for my fatsharks. Only thing that annoys me is it falls out of the strap to easily. I have a printed holder thing but it’s not the most comfy so need to rethink what I’m going to do to hold it in place

Wrap a regular battery strap around the battery and over the fat shark strap, this will hold it in place.

If you are brave and careful enough, you can split a 4s and make two goggle batteries out of them.

I had some old 1300mah 4s that started sagging more than I'd like. I've re-purposed them and they work well since the goggle don't pull as much current relatively.

I use this Fatshark Battery Alternative and it works really well. Basically just an adjustable voltage regulator, which means you can use a normal flight pack to power your goggles, without frying them!

I had the same idea a while back! I just leave it my flight bag in case I’m caught without a goggle battery.
